Why is AMD quiet about black screens on 290x?

Sweet! :D Good news always nice to see. Still holding off buying yet but making me more confident about buying!

It's is good news, but I'm also waiting to see if this problem is finally resolve before buying.

Waited this long for a 290X, just as well wait now for the non reference 290x's to arrive in New Year now.

Actually liking these drivers now, installed the 9.2 CCC to get the performance Tab back, only issue is what ever reason, when i right click my desktop i can't see the CCC shortcut.

In regards to gaming,

BF4 feels smoother and seems to have gained a frame or two, all other games are running great.

Still early days in regards to drivers and i'm sure there's even more performance to be eeked out yet, plus, we still have Mantle to look forward:).

Same, that's why I switched to AMD, brute performance, has to be tamed (Like a challenge) and get to test out Mantle soon. The 290X performance in BF4 is very impressive, rarely drops from 60fps @ 1440P, seems to be CPU related when it drops more than GPU. Mantle should make things even better. PC gaming is going to be awesome in 2014, all this power from both camps.

Not bad at all.
My FPS drop when the CPU is on the verge of maxing out.

don't forget to report it to AMD if you are still having issues at stock . since the new update I have not had any blackscreen at stock and I can run bf4 at 1150/1425.
1450 on the memory will blackscreen after a few minutes but that is probably a limit of my particular card/setup though .

This thread should be closed now imho. AMD have fixed the black screen issue. Jobs a gooden.

When you say fixed the black screen issue, do you mean that it's stopped hard locks and crashes from happening? Because I'm still losing signal to my monitor at stock voltages while the game still runs in the background. Reducing core voltages helps alleviate this (though I haven't played anything for more than an hour).

Did you do a clean install of the driver?

Did you report the issue as not fixed to AMD using the link sam provided?

For most people it seems to be fixed now , the only thing we are missing is the performance/overdrive tab

I did a clean install of the driver twice. Also just now submitted the issue to AMD.

Why you acting stupid?

Not stupid mate, thick, which means sometimes when someone makes a post I cant understand it takes me a wee while to get there. However, many of your posts since have cleared up the fact that I am not alone in being thick or stupid. Glad most folk on here seem to have the 'fix' for the problem and I sincerely hope you do too. :D

The usual definition of "Clean install" is very VERY inaccurate on this forum.

did you remove the old drivers first?

yeah - used Display Driver Uninstaller to remove old drivers.

Just tried formatting my hard drive with a new install of Windows 7 - so far did a couple runs in Heaven 4.0 no problem. Downloading Assassin's Creed 4 now, bet that one will black screen.

Could probably be a bit of an answer for you:

So, just reinstalled Windows 7 64 Bit again and installed the new Beta 9.4-driver. So after configuring the new system, I launched BF4 Shanghai-mission (SP-campaign) @ 200% Res-Scale @ Ultra @ 4xMSAA (FHD).
It crashed the same way it has used to with the other drivers, right after three minutes.
And yes, I get the identical issue everyone else is getting and both the VRMs & GPU stay very cool while gaming (@Accelero Hybrid.)

Since the issue got better for most of you guys I'm still hoping for the 'final' WHQL respectively future beta-releases.

well the release notes did say it "may" fix it.
make sure you report to AMD that you are still getting blackscreens otherwise they may think it is fixed already.
