Why you SHOULD be using Firefox

Ive just discovered Enabling DNS over HTTPS.

Bit late :p
Ironically it was this that I disabled to speed up Firefox again. As soon as it was disabled, my downloads completed as fast as they used to and Outlook.com loads fine with no slowdowns. If you want to try it out for yourself, I used Cloudfare as my provider.

Now I don't know if I want to try it again or which provider to use.

Been using it for a few hrs now, on Cloudfare (the default), and so far so good.

Try logging into Outlook.com if you have an email account there and opening some emails.

Something else that downloaded very slowly for me, was the portable version of CCleaner - direct link: https://download.ccleaner.com/portable/ccsetup580.zip

Edit: I'm not the only one, but this is from 2019.

I haven't seen any issues with Outlook.com or anything else, but I do run my own DoH/DoT/DoQ/DNSCrypt server. CCleaner is snake oil malware, don't bother with it. If you want to test encrypted DNS feel free to drop me a PM with the first two ocets of your IP and I'll add you to the server whitelist and send you the address. It has built in adblocking and anti-tracker too. Really though you shouldn't have any issues with NextDNS, Cloudflare etc. Set TRR mode to 4 in about:config.

I don't use outlook for my emails, ive been into them, and all fine so far, having no problems at all with anything, will see how it goes.

I've been using the cloudflare dns and esni since it launched and never experience any slow downloads or speeds.

My only one complaint was when a few months back they had that DNS outage for few mins.

What's the point in having redundant DNS servers if an outage can take them all out?

Run your own for total redundancy and control? I have AdGuard Home running in Docker, with Cloudflare, Quad9 and Mullvad DoH servers as upstream. I then connect to it (my own server) using DoH in Firefox and on my phone etc. Every request gets sent to all upstreams, and the fastest reply wins. As a bonus it also blocks ads and trackers and I have complete control over it. Win.

Crikey, this new design is vile. It's like a light grey bar at the top of my screen, with a white box that stands out like a sore thumb for the current tab and and icons which I feel should be bolder.

Well, decided to give Firefox a go as my main browser. Nuked my old profile and refreshed the install so I can start from scratch. Time to see how it goes.

Oddly enough this started to happen, I thought it was a Firefox bug at first but then it started happening to Edge:

Updated my GPU drivers and so far that seems to have fixed it.

Why not enable the dark theme?

My shield/padlock etc... icons look like this now. :p
