Why you SHOULD be using Firefox

Using Redk Dark Theme personally as it doesn't have the highlights or borders on stuff while maintaining a good level of distinction between elements.

Set browser.nova.enabled to false if you want to go back to the old look.
Cheers. I don't mind the new style too much, but I just don't see the point of it. Even more so since it takes up more space up the top for me for zero reason (which just gets on my nerves).

I wonder how long until they remove the setting.
I'm of the mindset, that I might as well get used to it and that Mozilla will probably stop allowing users to disable Nova. It's much more bearable now, thanks to the below theme:

Thanks for this. I've got this installed and now I have my light greys back again.

I've switched those off with thanks to the setting mentioned above. Now the only actual difference I can see is the stupid colour gradient. Seems like a big fanfare considering I can barely tell what they done in this release. I still prefer firefox though of course.

With how Mozilla are doubling down on the asinine Material You design I'm seriously considering switching to Waterfox, i took a look at the portable version last night and it's much more suited to what i want from a browser.

The 2017 redesign when they launched v57 (?) was my favourite look, shame we've moved on from big clear square tabs to small rounded ones now.

I don't mind the new look but I don't hate it as much as others are moaning on the subreddit but then again I don't use custom CSS to make it look like something it's not then get upset when a update breaks it.

Try switching the to tablet density in the Window Density setting under appearance.

After a few days, I'm hardly noticing the Nova theme now, other than the rounded tabs. The Proton theme improved things a lot, by removing the gradients and the pointlessly stupid colours.

Same, it hasn't really changed my usage, I was initially worried it'll be harder to click on which tab I wanted, but it's been fine so far.

Another small thing that bugs me is when you open a folder in your bookmark bar, it doesn't seem to respect the compact setting and still has a fair bit of padding between entries.

Hate the new default theme, was using an edge theme before due to looking ok, doesn't work as well now but still better than the nova ui.... my screen is rectangle with squared edges, why would I want rounded corners, at least make it optional without going into the css files... not to mention I now have padding around stuff which makes things like the tab feel smaller and bigger at the same time, smaller because it's hiding more text and bigger because it visually is taking up more space.....

Worst thing of all though to me is the history side bar, why is it that the UI designers thought it was a good idea to add in a new rounded corner section for the browser history to sit in, I love losing a load of real estate for no reason... funnily enough if you switch to the bookmarks it doesn't have this stupid UI and it's missing the little drop down option like on the history tab.... quality UI designers who clearly didn't look at everything.... did they work at MS first.
