Will jogging get you fit?

Since we're on a running thread, anyone got any advice on stretching the amount of distance you run?

DmPoole, I'm looking in your direction...

Fancy website or not I am and always have been a very naughty boy. I've never stretched before and after exercise and you are wiser to listen to somebody who knows more than me. I'm 100% sure stretching would help me but I can't be arsed.

It aint DmPoole's website that made me ask him, its his willingness to help and the fact that he runs a lot so is probably quite experienced.

@ DmPoole: I mean increasing the run distance, not physical stretching...

I was also lucky that firstborn replied...

Okay, how about this for a run regieme...

Day 1: 30 minutes fast

Day 2: Non-running

Day 3: 20 minutes interval

Day 4: Non-running

Day 5: weekly long run...

Day 6: Non-running

Day 7: Rest or non-running excercise...

The only concern that I have is that climbing sometimes seems to really hit my calf muscles, thus providing less rest than other activities...

Oh - was he on about stretching the run or stretching before a run..... I'm a right slacker when it comes to stretching.

Ok a man after my own heart, if you combine running with climbing. I would definetly advise a day of complete rest after the climbing, I can even open a can of coke the day afterwards. You could bunch the fast session and the long run next to each other, then you'd have three none running days next to each other, and you could fit the climbing into the middle of these. Though it depends on how often you climb. You could also alternate between the speedwork and the interval sessions on a weekly basis.

Dont know why this is in motors, but anyway..

best way to loose fat is to exercise for more than 20 minutes, as you only start burning fat after other energy sources are depleted. Basic rules for loosing fat are LONG DURATION at about 60% intensity, i.e. Jogging / walking for longer periods will be better than sprinting for short ones. Don't run on roads, run on grass and your knees will be alright.

Well. First off you're going to need some tools. First of all remove the seats from the front of the car.. and chalk out where you are going to cut your jogging hole. Once marked out, use your tools to cut the area away. You may want to put some tape around the edges as they may be sharp. Now replace the seats and you'll be ready to go.

I'd advice you to start jogging down hill to build some momentum, as a car is a pretty heavy weight to shift.

Anyways, the answer to your question is.. yes. It will get you fit.

I'll await pictures.
