I didn't manage to see the match but it sounds as if Murray couldn't be bothered which is a real pity although there is always next year :)

Yeah, he got owned big time in the first set and seemed to lose his drive after that. I think he needs to learn to dig a bit deeper when things aren't going his way.

i was gutted that Murray went out, find it hard to hold an interest in the tennis when theres no British players. he didnt really play well today. shame cos he was fantastic agaist Roddick

I'm disappointed he got put out. I've not seen the all of the match or highlights, as was working, but looks as though he was nervous and didn't expect or think he could win. Still, it is all good experience and all he can do is learn from it and get better :).

You'd think having just beaten Roddick who was amongst the top seeds he would be full of confidence but maybe the pressure did get to him. I saw some of the highlights and Baghdatis did play a good solid game making sure that Murray didn't get much.

I did think it might have been the other way round though, not that he didn't think he could win but that he might almost have expected to win, after he beat Roddick some of the press quotes were about having Hewitt in the same side of the draw which seemed slightly to suggest he might have been looking at this match as a foregone conclusion. I know that press quotes are almost invariably a long way away from the truth but either way it was a poor game from Murray.

You would think he would be full of confidence; perhaps he was too full of it. I don't know which of the two extremes it was, but he certainly didn't have the right frame of mind or attitude to win the match. He'll need to learn the right one, and perhaps in this defeat he will.

I thought today that he looked very nervous. I think he played so well against roddick because he was expected to lose, after all it was the 3rd seed vs an unseeded player, so he had nothing to lose, and just went out and played. Whereas against baghdatis a lot more people expected him to win, so the pressure was heaped on him.

I think he'll do better when he gets a coach, as tennis to me seems a game where the mental side is very important, and I imagine good coaches are very good at that type of preparation.

Most aesthetically pleasing game of the tournament is on at the mo: Sharapova v Dementieva :D

Sharapova is on top form, reckon she's got a good chance of winning again this year.

Amazing the number of tennis "experts" that appear during Wimbledon.

Roddick has been in poor form recently plus he's had an injury. Roddick only converted 1 out of 12 (yes 12!) break points against Murray. The match was a lot closer than the score suggested. And if you know anything about tennis at all you'll see from the match that Roddick was nowhere near his best. He was trying to play at the net when he should've done what he does best and stay at the baseline and worn Murray down. Instead he kept rushing to the net on some terrible approach shots, which allowed Murray to simply put the ball past him without any pressure.

Been a funny old day really, on any other day a British guy beating a top 3 in the world player at Wimbledon (in straight sets no less!) would be headline news (how many times did Henman do that? I dont think he ever did!) but I didnt even know he'd won till I watched the highlights!

You really have no clue about tennis do you? The head to head between Henman and Federer is 6-4 in Henman's favour.

Did you watch the 2003 Paris Masters? Henman beat Federer and then beat Roddick the following day, both in straight sets. You just happened to miss that headline I suppose. But then you only follow tennis for 2 weeks of the year...

I seem to remember helping you stick up for Henman last year as well lol. Good player, never a true great, but the best we had for a very long time and that amount of time in the top ten is a great achievement. As for Murray, he could well be better, but he'll have a long way to go to beat Henman's record. Hope he does, he could well be a grandslam winner if he get's the right coach in now and sorts his slight attitude problem out. Funny feeling that he might stand a better chance of winning one of the other three rather than wimbledon though.

Here's my analysis for the quarters.

R. Federer v M. Ancic
Ancic is a good grass courter but Fed will win. Straight sets.

R. Stepanek v J. Bjorkman
I gotta say, I'm surprised to see both of these players still in at this stage. Jonas has a great record here but he's been playing like crap for 2 years now and I thought he was goign to retire at the age of 34. Suddenly he's found his game again and now has some good wins under his belt. Steppy is the geek of tennis, the stuff he does on court is embarrassing and is very annoying. This will be a close match but I'm going for Bjorkman to win in 5 sets.

L. Hewitt v M. Baghdatis
Dispite his lack of recent form, Hewitt has bounced back and is looking pretty solid. Baggy is good but don't be fooled by that 3 set win over Murray - we all know what a little whinger he is when he starts losing. Hewitt in 4 sets.

J. Nieminen v R. Nadal
This is the day Nadal gets taught a lesson in grass court tennis. Everyone is hyping him up but so far Nadal has had an easy time. He beat the old man Agassi who's completely gone at the game, Labadze who's just a joker (and suspected of max fixing) and he struggled against Kendrick (who's Kendrick you ask? Exactly). Shockingly, Nadal is the heavy favourite for this match!

Nieminen is a class act, future top 10 player. Niem in 4 sets, maybe 3 if he's having a good day.
