Windows 10

Without having to read through lots of info, has anyone been able to get the popup to reserve a copy on Windows 7 SP1?

I've tried batch files and all sorts, it simply wont show.

the official release date for W10 is the 29th of July 2015.

as you have registered with the W10 icon it will automatically download it on release and prompt you when its ready to install

it seems only insiders are getting it on the 29th. they will then slowly rollout it to everybody else after the 29th. so it could be sometime in august

I've been having this issue for a while now, and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced the same;

Apologies for the the slowness of the video, I had my phone set to 120FPS slow motion mode when I recorded it.

Will beta uses get a free upgrade?
If so where does one need to register?

I have a secondary box which I would run the beta on, if it would entitle me to utilize it later for an OS.

this as be answered over and over again..

if your an insider you'll stay being an insider, you'll continue receiving preview builds

you can opt out of the insider but you will need a win7/8.1 license to upgrade from.

Why is that a feature? Seems crazy...

Is that to me?

Looks like a driver or hardware problem...

It's not a hardware problem, as it isn't present on Windows 8.1. I suspect it's a driver problem, and I've found people describing having similar problems, but no one's posted a video or image of it.

What I find strangest about it though, if you skip to about the half way mark in the video, when there's a collage the flickering stops.

I spent about 10 minutes watching it, and without fail every time it goes from a single image to a collage, the flickering goes away, then comes back as soon as it goes back to a single collage.

Anyone been able to get iCloud email working with the Mail App? Sepcifically the Sent Messages and Deleted Messages folders (or am I missing something - I had no issues changing the default folders to the proper ones in the Mail App in Win 8.1...)

Thanks,

Rich

Hmm, so I had my Win 10 notification icon for a few days, then I suffered a partition embarrassment and had to re-install Win 7 from scratch, and now no notification icon even though I am fully patched up and have the necessary KBs installed.

Did you come from a clean Base Windows 7 install? When I did that I found there was a KB missing I had to manually go find.

Yes, totally clean, but when I try and manually install the two needed KBs, it says I already have them installed. Can you give me the number of the KB you had to go and get?

Interesting, I stuck this all on a stick, installed to a fresh machine that was sitting doing nothing.
It all installed in under 20 minutes, seems to be fully updated now.
Only taking up 12.2Gb on the hard drive.

Impressed thus far, certainly seems faster in use on that box than 7.2 or 8.1 ever were :)

On 8.1, you can choose to make files/folders available offline, or online only.
You can't do that on 10. They're either synced and on the device, or not synced. But then that kind of means you can't see everything. On Windows 8.1, everything's there, except stuff on the cloud only is "see through". On W10, it's just not visible period unless you then manually sync it. But then it'll come on the device :p

Which is crap really.

This will be fixed later this year. MS are rewriting the backend for the whole OneDrive sync system. The 'placeholder' files feature of 8.1 will eventually return in Win 10 and in a (hopefully) improved/more reliable form.
