Windows 10

Well, that's the dirty deed done at last. Decided to install using the media creation tool and all seems to be fine. All my apps ( including gaming stuff like steam ) seem to be working ok, and all hardware recognised and working fine. Coming from Windows 7 I feel it's going to take me a bit of time getting used to Windows 10 if I'm being honest. Cortana feels like a gimmick to me ( don't use Siri on my iPhone for reference ). Now to have a good look at settings and switch off sharing wifi etc lol.

Looks like windows update just does what it wants...

Is anyone having any problems installing the latest Intel RST driver?

After installing and rebooting my pc just hangs at the windows boot screen.

Mine is doing that with the Intel HD4000 driver, from looking around there's actually no way to stop it installing drivers automatically, that option I've shown in the above screenshot doesn't even work...

What happens when you guys make a new document in one of the moved folders? Do any of the corresponding folders get duplicated in the file explorer sidebar? Documents, Pictures etc.

Happened to me too. Close explorer and open it again, then it oddly fixed itself after doing that.

It just looks like this:

Right here are some screen shots, apologies if they are awful I am doing this off of my iPhone.

Here's to show how the folders are setup:

Here's what happens when I create just a blank text document:

Then once I've deleted the text document:

And finally this is what happens when I click on 'This PC' and press F5 to refresh:

is anyone having issues downloading the isos from microsofts site?

I downloaded w10 home 64 bit when I had W7 installed with no issues.

now I need to get W10 pro 64 bit but the tool keeps failing to validate the download after its downloaded it then looses the iso.

tried different locations on the PC to save too, renaming the file and leaving it as default but all failed.

64 bit tool loads but the 32 bit one shows a blank error box

getting from here and downloading as a iso format not usb stick

Windows 10 on alienware laptop

As above i have my stand alone gaming pc and my alienware mx17 r3 my main concern is the amount of dell drivers that are used on the laptop, should i upgrade the laptop and hope for the best?

Ace, did you get your up and running in the end?

Yes, I did something naughty and found my old laptop out which doesnt work (faulty screen) and used the Windows 7 Pro OEM key from that, installed windows 7 pro and licensed it with my OEM key from my laptop and then upgraded to 10 that way.

Normally I would not abuse the OEM licensing, but to be honest the way MS blocked my key and how I was dealt wiht yesterday; ****-them.

don't blame you Ace, why pay when they are unwilling to help and you have a key anyway!

I would try this;

Go to settings > system > storage

Change all of the Send new documents to your D? drive.

Open your D drive, Create a new folder that is Exactly the same as your Username (if doing the above did not make one) Now move your documents folders into the one with your name.
Update the links the old fassion way to the folders that are now in D:\<username>\

This is the steps i did.
