Windows 10

I'm trying it now on a spare system i have.. Ill let you know the result if it activates :P Does not let you pick upgrade :( It just says that this is only available in the OS

What about running the upgrade in safe mode?

Well I've created a DVD to run the upgrade from (from within windows) and will see how that plays out. Next I'll try in safe mode, after that the laptops going out of the window. I don't seem to have found many other people reporting the same issue which is frustrating.

I posted earlier that i upgraded using the media creation tool, but had activation issues last night (3v66t key). The advice from microsoft support was wrong! - I do NOT have to wait for the upgrade via windows update.

After putting back on image of win 8.1 i upgraded AGAIN today... flawless upgrade x 2 which i am most impressed with. This time it was activated as soon as i checked. Not going to do a clean install as its running great with everything kept as is... excpet fsx crashing but thats a minor issue! :(

Yeh, i wish i could help you more but the error seems to be only a few people and none of them seem to have managed to fix it :(

Just remember when the computer goes to restart to take the disk out so it doesnt boot from it :)

I don't suppose I'm alone here but ALL of my Windows 7 machines are seeing this:

I don't really want to force the updates but it's looking increasingly like I'm going to have to. Any existing fixes out there?

I wonder why this is causing problems for both of us then? Are you on Windows Pro? Did you have your second hard drive connected when you installed the OS?

Yes Pro, I had my 2nd and 3rd drive disconnected during the upgrade process (I was paranoid that some boot/recovery files may decide to go on another drive). But as mentioned before closing explorer and then reopening it again solved the problem oddly enough.

Not that we know of no. Apparently that error can be caused by the servers saying they are not ready for you. Not sure how true that is.

Forcing it isnt a big issue just extract the iso to the desktop and run the setup. (burn it too if you want it as a backup) but putting it on the desktop is better as it wont try to boot of the disk at restart.

It's not going to suddenly update on it's own then :D

I think I'll wait, not really in any rush.

Thanks.

I can't get cortana to work on mine it's a legit upgrade from windows 8.1 to 10. All I get is an error about not supported in your region, any help would be greatly appreciated. Live in the UK so does that make any difference ?

thanks

UK isn't supported, think you have to change your region to US or language to US English.

Does anyone know if intel have released any AHCI Sata drivers yet? I'm currently using the Standard SATA AHCI Controller driver from Microsoft, but I've noticed file browsing can sometimes slow down and my drive doesn't seem as snappy as when on 8.1.

Check the FAQ the section on getting her working should help :)

Brilliant - as for activation, will this all be fine? I haven't even let Windows know I want to upgrade or so with the Get Windows 10 thing, haven't reserved anything whatsoever. This should still work and activate properly?

yes it will be fine, once you have ran the setup from the iso file and its all up and running it will tag your hardware\key for use with W10.

after you can do a clean install, will ask twice for a key which you skip and then W10 activates once the PC is online. this is how mine went :)
