I was wondering if the Marvel controller was adding to your issues, Marvel are disabled in the bios for me.
as long as you have ACHI\IDE (whichever its set too in the bios) enabled on both you should be fine as I changed between them with no issues when testing speeds outI have not disabled anything in BIOS. If it is on the "wrong" one - if I change it, Windows may not boot?

Do you have a SSD? maybe the software for it can tell you what ports your using and if ACHI is being used.
Marvel are the sata 3 ports and Intel are the sata 2 ones.
I'm getting fed up with Win10 and things breaking every time there's an update.
I'm loving that finally things are starting to approach meltdown on the official Windows 10 forums over Windows update - though sadly MS don't seem to be listening - but at least there seems to be an increasing number of people who are finally realising how ridiculous it is as a model/implementation.
Fabulous isn’t it?
Well I suppose one answer is to leave my network adapter on metered mode and accept the risk of not being patched. I'm sure they'll have built something into the OS to bypass it though. This simply isn't acceptable, I spend more time fixing problems than using my machine for its intended purposes whenever it updates.I'm loving that finally things are starting to approach meltdown on the official Windows 10 forums over Windows update - though sadly MS don't seem to be listening - but at least there seems to be an increasing number of people who are finally realising how ridiculous it is as a model/implementation.
What make SSD do you have? if its a samsung SSD you can install their software and on the main screen of it there will be a section that will tell you if your using sata 2 or 3, if its 3 your using the marvel controllerIt is set to ACHI and my "C drive" (with OS on) is an SSD, but I will need to take box apart to see which port type it is connected to.

Ok, does seem like its using a Sata 2 port so most likely the Intel controller.Thanks.
Using the Crucial Storage executive - it's a - Samsung SSD 850 PRO 256GB
Again using the Crucial Storage executive it says - SATA Interface: SATA 3.0Gb/s (SATA 2). So I must have used the Intel port for this drive.
That bug was in the previous release for me and fixed in 1709. If you log off and log on again, it goes away iirc.
Thanks for the answer...im on RS2 and have 0 problems...when i go to RS3 all the ********* is coming to my system, the log off and log in is NOT a permanent fix sadly.
I have tried clean installs etc, nothing works.
Yep, same as you, it only came in for the Fall Update. From doing a lot of googling, loads of people have various solutions, but none of them seem to be permanent. It's a Win 10 bug that MS has to fix.

And what a way to spend your free evening, fixing a issue caused by Microsoft.Luckily the wife is out tonight so got the house & the evening to myself.![]()
