Windows 10

Ok, well either way I'll get a free copy as I already own Windows 7, 8 and 8.1. Anyone know the answer to my other question though? If I'm an insider on the final release, does that mean all the logging stuff stays on?

That doesn't equal free copy in perpetuity though. It'll carry on running for as long as the insider programme does.

the insider program will continue running after release and years to come. you'll just after to keep updating builds regular and may run into issues sometimes

im guess yes. because if u stay as a insider u won't be staying on the rtm build for long

One thing that's really bugging me with W10 is Onedrive.
In 8.1 it was perfect. But having everything stored locally (Yes, I get that you can sync by folder, but it's still a step back) is going to ruin my S3 etc.

If you stay as an Insider running Insider Preview builds you will have an effectively free Windows 10 Pro for as long as the program runs (there's no hint of it ending any time soon). This has no link to any existing underlying license.

Each individual build will expire, but as an Insider you will keep getting new builds so you will stay active. If you drop out of the program you stop getting new builds, meaning the build you are on will eventually expire and you will have to seek out a proper license.

The conditions of the Insider program will remain as they are now. It's pre release software, zero warranty, stuff might not work, and the logging (which is nowhere near as draconian as people think it is) will remain. Basically if you agree to be a tester for Windows Updates you get to run test versions of Windows for free.

If you don't want this, and want just stable final proper Windows then you need a license.

Cortana not working here either. I got a 10158 ISO which I guess was US. Weird, everything is set to UK so I don't see why it's an issue.

AFAIK you need to have more than just the language as UK Eng, which is a bit of a faff, so seems easier just to grab the UK Eng ISO

"Why isn't Cortana in my region or language?

Cortana is available in these languages: French, Italian, German, Spanish, English (U.S.), English (U.K.), Mandarin

To use Cortana, all these settings must be set to the same language:

Languages (this is your device language)

Speech language (language pack must be installed)

Country or region

Note: If you change your region, you might not be able to shop at Store, or use things you've purchased, like memberships and subscriptions, games, movies, TV, and music."

I left it downloading when I went to bed last night and came down this morning to find it sitting there waiting for me!

Will burn and install it later.

Has anyone else tried it also?
