Windows 10

Can someone help me out.....

I cannot get my GPU to downclock at all. It use to work without issue. I'm pretty sure it worked since I installed 10 at some point and I don't know what's changed.

Reinstalled drivers, set it to adaptive in NVCP etc

Checked task manager and can't find anything that might be doing it. (Remember some Metro apps would do it in 8.1)

At a complete loss and it's a bit of a deal breaker. Don't want the Titan running maxed out 24/7.

Because 99% of the population do not want a complicated set up system, with everything disabled by default.
You're the odd one out, deal with it.
I've dealt with it. But I feel sorry for the chumps who blindly share their personal data without even knowing they are doing it.

It wouldn't be hard or complicated for it only to get enabled at point of use rather than shared by default out the box. People's data is a valuable commodity which is being harvested without their express permission.

I don't think I am the odd one out. It is exactly this kind of behaviour which means every website now has to carry a cookie warning/acceptance.

It's probably already been asked and answered, a search of this thread brought nothing up, but how to you enable transparency for the taskbar and the like? At the moment mine is just a solid black bar.

The same for Firefox too, it used to have a transparent top bar but now it's just a lump of solid white and looks like ****.

Personalisation > Colours

Try pressing the start (windows button) and typing notepad it is their :)

But if still no luck its in "C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories" The shortcut called notepad which links to "C:\WINDOWS\system32\notepad.exe" Maybe create a shortcut in that appdata folder linking to the notepad exe :)

I need to log in with MS account:o

Reboot fixed it. Buggy nvidia drivers at this stage perhaps.

You have OneNote now as an app for reading/writing documents. It should be visible in the tiles on the right side of the start menu. Alternatively download
Word Mobile which is a free app for Win 10 ( can get it via the store along with Powerpoint Mobile and Excel Mobile ).

edit* notepad exists on my install too
We still have Notepad. All my little desktop notes are still using Notepad as the default. Thank god!

EDIT: Still classes as a Desktop App on my rig? Did you do a fresh install of 10?

EDIT2: Danny 091 too.

Turn Cortana back on.

So it seems just like 8/8.1 using a Microsoft account is required for certain features like Cortana. However, this means I will need to sign in with a password every time I turn on the PC. Is there a way to bypass the password requirement when using a Microsoft account?

Run netplwiz and uncheck user must enter a name and password to use this computer.

Oh and the reason you're missing icons is Cortana is it Isn't supported with language and region. Although I swear MS said it would be available at launch in UK.

MS gets you to use a pin. Still a pain. I did see last night half falling asleep some option to login without?

EDIT: just seen @Glaucus solution.
