Windows 10

Where can you change the login screen on 10 want to change the horrendous window 10 logo one after the lockscreen it seems a bit low res to be I have better windows ones.

Thought I'd provide some feedback after upgrading my Lenovo ideapad U310.

If you look on the Lenovo support page it tells you it's not recommended: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht103611

Having upgraded I haven't run into any show stoppers at all. A few of the hotkeys don't work as there is no driver for them on this model, the ones for the radios, microphone and camera. But other than that windows automatically found all of the required drivers :)

The only problem I ran into was that I'd used the hot key to turn my wireless off while I was downloading the Win10 upgrade and doing the upgrade itself. This had the unfortunate side affect of preventing me from turning my wireless back on after the upgrade. I had to use the Lenovo onekey recovery to go back to the original shipping state/Win7 and then upgrade again. Although at this point I went for a clean install.

Everything appears to be up and running without a problem. Just have to get used to the new interface.

maybe but microsofts server are being hammered by ppl upgrading so connection might fail if its all on a usb to which you can download an iso on this forum and use rufus to make the usb its quicker and easier also the media creation tool is dam slow only takes me 2mins to down the iso on the forum and a few more min's to make a usb

Yeah but in that case just mount the ISO inside Windows and run the setup.exe on it. There's no need to physically make a USB or CD regardless of which route you take.

I had W7 Ultimate on my desktop, i simply downloaded the W10 Pro iso, mounted it with PowerISO and let it auto run... upgrade took 30 about minutes tops and activated, not problems...

So... I'm done!

Just handed my GFs laptop back to her and now have the full house. PC, Server, work laptop, GFs laptop and tablet all on Windows 10. The laptops and the tablet were upgraded to Final over 7 and 8 installs, the Server was upgraded a while back to a Preview and is now up to Final, and the PC is running full bore Insider Preview for free, so I still have a retail 7 license kicking about too.

Now onto the next challenge, 3 laptops and a PC at my parents house that I'm going to be asked to sort, plus 2 more laptops at my GFs parents... Sometimes it's really annoying being the family "IT Guy" :(.

Ugh...Downloaded allllll the Windows 10 files using the media creation tool at home on my shoddy 2mb download connection, took most if not all of the night and day...Then it failed.

Now? Well now I need to download all the flipping files again apparently? If I've ran the media tool and selected upgrade now, surely I can start another install from those pre-downloaded files?? Argggh

I have downloaded the ISO and put it onto DVD for future. Always nice to have it on a DVD or USB in case the PC goes belly up in the future!

It didn't fail to download, it got to 41% installation and stayed there for five hours, then failed :p

Even if I download the ISOs, I can't install it as I figured I needed to do the upgrade first?

Either way, it's going to take forever to download the iso's again :(

You can mount the iso in windows 8.1 by double clicking on it and run the update that way
in windows 7 just extract the iso with 7zip and run the setup and upgrade

or of course burn them to a disk or usb (with rufus)

You can do an upgrade with the ISO as well as a clean install. Its the same files you are getting though the media tool, just pre packaged into an ISO.

Just download, mount and run Setup.exe.

So not only have I had my keyboard and mouse randomly disconnecting, the Xbox App now crashes when it starts up!

What is going on?? :(

EDIT: And now since updating my BIOS Windows 10 is no longer activated. Lol what a waste of time.

I'm trying to install an application but can't because Windows says "The publisher has been blocked from running software on your machine". It is an older version of the software, which is why I am getting this message, however I don't want to use the latest version. It goes on to say that I must unblock the publisher in order to run the software, however I am not sure how to go about doing this. I've done a lot of searching and haven't found anything online to help me. Has anyone else had this issue and managed to get around it?

Edit: Update in case anyone has this same issue. The problem was that the certificate for the application had expired on account of it being an old version. To remedy this, I used a little tool called FileUnsigner (http://www.fluxbytes.com/software-releases/fileunsigner-v1-0/) to remove the certificate from the installer (I think!). I was then able to install the application.
