Blue screens could be due to overclocks. OS upgrades are stressful and delicate procedures.

Since the Win 10 release, I've reverted to stock on all my PCs. What was stable under win 8.1 wasn't under 10, and I couldn't be bothered to over clock again.

It worked this time time.

What was weird the first time was that the update seems to have downloaded incredibly fast as well as the preparing stage after that. I guess it didn't grab the update properly and caused the bluescreen. Second time around it properly downloaded and prepared, giving me the restart prompt afterwards.

On the other hand the updating was pretty quick after that, a lot faster than my Surface Pro 4 even with the "slower" storage.
 
TH2 finally appeared in Windows Update this morning and the upgrade process was very slick. Retained all my settings except the size and opacity level of my command prompt. Simply not acceptable. ;)
 
Failed....whats weird is this time when I opened edge it game me the welcome to edge message. Hmmm winver still stays old build.

At least the update is there now so I can pop on the support app and see what they say.

What a farce haha
 
Apparently running the upgrade utility (the one that makes an ISO / Flash Drive) will also install the update. Maybe worth trying gamble?

tried and still fails. I had this issue trying to upgrade to 10 as well - any upgrade/update that comes from within the OS cannot be done.

I had to do windows 10 via USB so that's my plan for tomorrow as I have a new USB stick arriving - will just fresh install and be done with this nonsense :)
 
Updated this afternoon, only minor point was it uninstalled CPU-Z for compatibility reasons when it was working. :confused:
 
I'm almost out of space on my current 128Gb SSD and have a new 250GB one to install this weekend. Currently using Win7 Hope Premium and have the update to Win 10 icon and prompts.
To install Win10 on the new SSD, would I have to install Win 7 first and then upgrade to Win 10? Or can I download Win 10 and use my Win 7 Licence to activate it?

With the latest ISO you can activate 10 with your 7 key.
 
Enjoying it so far, but the first problem I've encountered is that handbrake just doesn't work. Trying compatibility mode / running as admin does nothing.

Hm i just ran a load of files through handbrake after updating no issues here. Using Version 0.10.2.7286 if that helps.

Mine got removed too. It also changed my desktop background to a black screen and malwarebytes refused to even open hand to reinstall it.
 
Hey Guys,

had to re install my OS today so used the tool and installed W10 as was on 8.1 before.

I remember someone posting some software that can give you a list of everything to disable in W10, does anyone remember the name or where I can download it from?
