^^ Sucks you have to go to such extreme measures though - underneath the hood its a pretty decent OS but the shell layer (and anything else sitting on top of the kernel like WU and additional services) is an abomination.

A slimmed down version of the OS with a slightly plainer version of Windows 7 aero theme would be awesome (and Windows 7 version of explorer with a few minor tweaks from 10 like file copy dialog).

When I launch some games, they go maximised (i.e. still shows the silver surround/border with the title of the application at the top, which therefore chops off the bottom of the image as the grey surround adds 80 pixels or whatever) instead of full screen. It seems to happen to older games. Does anyone know how to get these games to go full screen? They're set to go fullscreen in their launchers. It's Mafia and Morrowind so far that are doing it- DX8 games.

Old trick, so forgive me if you've tried it, but does pressing Alt+Return make the games full screen and in front of taskbar, etc?
 
It doesn't work :( The border doesn't have the minimise, maximise and cross buttons which makes me think that Windows is running it in full screen, but it is adding a border for some reason. Oh wait yes it does have the little buttons.

Coming from XP so Windows 10 is great fresh look for me.

*I didn't upgrade this is a new pc so clean install of Windows 10*

But ive had some bad experiences:

The mail shortcut kept on going white/bank at least once a week.

Then the films and tv app wouldnt work it would open up and close in about two seconds. I tried everything to fix it,in the end it was quicker to do a repair of windows files,Installing the software i had took less time than trying different things to get the app back and working.

Had some problems with the mail trash can,Well i say problems more like user error as things dont get deleted into the trash can there is a hidden folder called deleted and thats where my deleted emails go.

What i dont like is not being able to have the title bar on Chrome etc clear it has to be what ever colour you have for your taskbar.
 
Anyone know how to fix this issue?
Updated my mums tablet to w10.
She signs on with a yahoo account. Which was fine. But it's added It to the email app as an outlook account with outlook settings. It wont let me delete it, can't change the settings, as settings screen for yahoo is totally different, just adding it again doesn't work.

How the helldpi tell w10 it's a yahoo account not an outlook.
 
The login always requires a ms account which is then outlook or similar I think. It seems pretty deliberate attempt to suck you in. Ironically outlook software would let you use yahoo

Coming from XP so Windows 10 is great fresh look for me.

Is W10 much faster then XP, I always remember XP as fastest because it could load with 100 meg used only but Im still thinking of vista
 
It does require a Ms account, but you can assign any email address as an Ms account.
Been using the login since win8 it all works fine, sync etc. The issue is that in the email app it's set it up with outlook settings and there's as far as I can see no way to edit it, delete it etc.
And when you sign into Microsoft website using a Microsoft account everything's using the yahoo address. It's just the settings are wrong in mail app with no way of ltering it.

I cant remember if it went away after that update,But so far since i did a repair all is fine with the mail icon.

I do remember XP being quite fast but i had been suffering from a very slow pc for quite some time so i cant really tell how much faster 10 is as my pc is now much faster than the XP pc i had.

Can you add another account to the mail app? I have a hotmail and yahoo mail (technically a rocketmail) accounts that come into the mail app. That being said I don't have a Microsoft account synced with my install.

I also found a similar bug with the calendar app - I use Google calendar with a hotmail sign in. I can add it and it works at first but then goes full potato and tries to change it's settings to the default hotmail ones where everything breaks.

You can add multiple accounts in the mail app.

open mail app and click on accounts. then on the right side click add account.
 
Quick question that I think I no the answer too. I updated to Win 10 from 8.1. I've just put an SSD in my laptop. If i remove the HDD, install Win 10 to SSD will it activate? I have it on my USB to install.

Provided no other hardware changes at the same time (mainly motherboard), definitely will activate as soon as it sees the internet. I've updated from Win 8.1 and 7 to 10 on different machines before then doing a fresh install onto a new SSD and it's worked five every time. :)
 
I'm loving Windows 10, a lot better than Windows 8.
I had a huge update today and it went on for about 20 minutes a few things have updated from what I can see.
