Windows 10

OK as my new install of win7 ( 64Bit) is not showing the win10 upgrade icon ( and is not even updating ) ..is there a way to get the windows 10 upgrade from Microsoft please ?

I was getting a right head ache before that lol...and im about to get a few more too...as win10 now tells me that in the case of both my sound cards " Don't Work On This Platform ".....thats apart from how sluggish it is too

Mines been doing that since the start (clean install of Win10).

Most times it will shart down or restart OK. But maybe 1/7 times it will just say "Restarting" (etc) forever. No hdd activity, just sits on that screen and never does anything.

Hard off required. Am on insider fast track, same issue with all the new builds too.

Never happened on Win7.

Same, my Windows 7 install (on the same SSD/different partition) works fine.

It seems to have been an update that broke it in Windows 10 too, as it used to be ok.

@foster grant: Is there a reason why you did not just straight install Windows 10 with your Windows 7 product key?

I suppose one of the 'problems' is that with a new SSD you have to have an OS installed first, so as to be able to access the internet to use the MS download tool at: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/soft...load/windows10
... or have I missed something here?

There would have been an older install before hand (unless the person in question did not have a computer before) with which to download it and save the ISO using the Microsoft tool you have pointed out. You're probably missing the "pre-planning" stage.

I can see that Foster grant is having issues with his sound card however, (from this and another thread) so might roll back to Windows 7 anyway.

I probably shouldn't have jumped into an existing thread here, but in my case I am starting off with a brand new SSD (no previous Windows installation) but I do have an unused Windows 7 DVD which I thought might help!

The objective is of course to end up with Windows 10 as easily as possible!
