So is there a way to block a specific update other than then MS tool that doesn't work properly? I don't mind messing around in registry or third party tools.
Windows offered KB4100347 which add microcode for broadwell-e (and I assume others as there is lots listed in the notes & I'm haswell-e) and noticed rare, but random suttering in games. I think it's possibly that update, it's not constant, just games seem to randomly stutter for a few seconds before sorting themselves out. It's not often, Resident evil 2 done it twice in 2 playthroughs, I thought it might just be the game, but Rocket league that I have 2000+ hours on and 100% never had any stutters at all, also did it a few times since what seems to be installing that. I wanted to test for a while without it, might be something else, but that update was the last major change.

So the original update it offered was KB4100347, and listed as 2018-10. It seems it succesfully blocked that, only for windows to then offer then same damn thing, but with 2018-9 date. The troubleshooter doesn't see it, so can't block it.
I'm on the pro version with updates set to check but not automatically download, so at least for testing I can just leave it, update when there are loads to do, then just uninstall it and leave it again, but still annoying. So
What's the point of the tool? If you block an update it just offers you the same thing but a different version? and doesn't allow you to block?
Is there a way to block to it or trick windows into thinking it already has it. I don't mind third party tools or messing in the registry.
If it's just a dodgy update, if I update my bios to one with updated code, will windows stop offering it, or will it still want me to take the windows one.
Might not be it, but is it that difficult to just let me choose what to install. My pc, windows should just say fair enough, you don't want it, your choice, rather than try to force it
