I'll be setting up my home server soon and was planning on installing Vail. However what has drawn me to WHS in the first place was DE. I only read today that it has been totally pulled from Vail and therefore is not a route I want to go any more.
So I have been looking at alternatives and interestingly there are now some Linux options starting to offer some of the same features. As I am a bit of a Linux noob and WHS looks to be easier to setup would you recommend I still buy WHS1 or do you think it is too close to end of life? It does look like it will still be supported for a while.
I'm holding out with WHS v1 until they properly decide on the fate of Drive Extender.

Solution to stalled print jobs on WHS :
1. Login to your WHS via Remote Desktop
2. Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Services
3. Find the "Print Spooler" service, double-click to view properties
4. Select the "Log On" Tab
5. UNCHECK "Allow service to interact with desktop"
6. Click OK
7. Restart the service
I am looking at setting a server up, using a 1.6 atom and 2GB DDR2. Will this be fine for streaming HD content etc?
Can you add external USB drives to the storage pool?
Any tip's on setting it up etc?
