Winter 2022/23 - It's too cold :(

I'm gutted this morning. We've got really heavy snowfall here now and it's sticking/freezing too! Traffic is plodding along in sludge at 10-20mph and I bet everyone will be struggling to get to work on Monday!

I'll never understand why people like snow

I dont mind the snow.... It's the people that don't know how to cope/drive in it that are irritating. It's really not that difficult but require forward planning and awareness, skills sadly lacking in a lot of drivers today.

It's not too bad if you're only driving using main roads and motorways or if you've got a 4x4 but it's a totally different ball game on housing estates, side roads, and rural lanes etc. That can turn into a hellish experience even for advanced drivers. I was trying to get around the UK in a van doing long distance delivery jobs a few years ago when we had the last heavy snow period and that was an experience I never want to go through again.

Just sleet here and its warm enough that its not sticking (Ellesmere Port). Cold, wet miserable muck instead of fun snow :(

I'm only a few miles away from you (Upton) and things are different here so I think you might just be a few hours behind us in terms of snow and dipping temps from the coastline. Snow is coming in your direction pal....but I'm hoping it doesn't last more than 1 day.

Back in Cornwall very cold, the rain is just laying on sheet ice.
My industrial water tank in BBQ area is solid with ice

Had a bit of rain first thing and everything turned to ice - warmed up now and can see a thaw in some places.

Even showing 3C is doesn't feel as cold as it was.

As a old codger I was doing the soft shoe shuffle going round to the bins.

Nowhere near as cold with me last night, only -2c, +2c now so thawing out all the ice.

Back to normal service for next week, hard frosts all the working week.

Snow falling, nevermind sticking, was such a rarity in Wirral in the 80s when I was there in my "yooff."

Business as usual for a Saturday here. Washed the car this afternoon, I was surprisingly comfortable just by wearing a slightly thicker jumper than usual. Could have stayed out longer, but the sun had just disappeared over the hill and I know I look weird enough cleaning the car in such weather as it is! It'll be an ice rink out there in the morning, but I won't be going anywhere tomorrow. Must admit I do like the lighter evenings in the Summer as I can still be out doing stuff outside the house until 20:00/20:30.

Five more days at work and then I'm off for Christmas/New Year, so the weather can do what it wants from 17th onwards.

I had been planning to just ride indoors, but I saw a mate who'd gone out at 8am and said, although water in his bottle iced up, it wasn't that bad... so I figured, what the heck! He was right though, lovely afternoon with the sun out. I'm not sure what happened here though -

It was just for this small contained area, for like 30 seconds. I wondered if someone had a bonfire or something?

Arrival of King Arthur.

The weather is definitely requiring a bit more heating. Going to be a pricey month. Needing a bit in my gym now too.

-6 and a freezing fog, it’ll be pretty out in the morning. I, however, will be staying in where it’s marginally warmer :p
