Winter 2022/23 - It's too cold :(

I'm not really feeling it other than when I'm struggling out of bed - was working on my truck earlier in -2C and was comfortable with a hoodie and Sherpa lined fleece without the outer layer.

0c at midday on my bike ride today!

But still and sunny which makes all the difference!

Where do you cycle? I'd be too worried about off leash dogs and sexual predators/murderers lurking in the bushes to go anywhere remote (like your photos) on my own. It does look very pretty though and I bet it's great being away from all the traffic. I only MTB around industrial estates these days or my local park if there's no dog walkers in the fields.

Also, do you not worry about getting lost in the woods ? lol

Feels like this will be the toughest winter for a while, I am pretty sure we dont usually see these kind of temps until late Dec or January onwards. Days dont start getting longer for another 2 weeks and only then very slowly, not full rate until February so probably now 2 months minimum of this biting weather.

I think it was odds on it was going to happen with heating costs going through the roof...

It's quite funny, it's like when in April people start sitting outside having drinks, then at about 8pm they start talking about going in because it's getting too cold. Then the conversation ensues, "it's not normally this cold in April, is it?"

Every. Damn. Year.

To be fair I think it was about 5-6C below averages in the east of the country, was a sudden cold spell end of April.

I'd still take this weather over the heatwaves of the summer, seems like 5mins ago when we had mental hot July breaking records, how fast months seem to fly by these day.

My perfect winter weather though is around 6-10c, when it is 2 or 1 during the day then you don't want to be out for too long in it. I'm currently working in a woolly hat indoors lol.

Just googled for my city the average low is 2C for december and 8C high.

Accuweather currently has it at 3C high and -2 low, so I wasnt imagining it, but maybe in your part of the country its not normally warmer.
Averages. Yes, so sometimes it is colder, sometimes it is warmer. A period of several days freezing weather in December is hardly anything new or unusual.

The met office chief meteorologist also disagrees with you
