Ice on lake now has a watery surface layer.

I expect tomorrow with rain and 8c it'll be gone.

Very similar here. -1 overnight and then through the course of Sunday into Monday the temperature rises to 13C.

I've enjoyed the crisp cold days, spent 4 hours wandering around Norwich yesterday dry cold quite pleasant if you're wrapped up ok. Prefer this to the wet winters I used to get in South Wales. Total drudge getting wet all the time.

I find it a bit odd that people are hoping for a harsh winter given energy prices. Wanting weather that will cause a lot of suffering is a bit weird.

It's 1C here in SE London currently. I'm not complaining.

Agreed. I can't wait for the long hot days, shorts and sunset at gone 9pm. I'd rather spend my money on beer and ice cream than gas for the heating.

Not gonna lie, I love cold crisp weather like this but I would like it a lot more if my house wasn’t a thermal sieve. The British winter can be so bloody miserable with all the grey and wet days.

Visited a customers place this afternoon and theres still snow in the garden and the pavement is still iced over! After almost a week. 5c here now and feels positively springlike the heating is on and I've taken the coat off! It'll be the wooly hat next I swear.
