Winter 2022/23 - It's too cold :(

So there is damp in the corner of my bedroom which I noticed earlier in the year after clearing out boxes.

Today I noticed a clear grown damp patch on the wall that has expanded much further, and now also a clear gap in the wall itself like the bricks have shifted or something at the base of the wall just above skirting and around that base can see the liquid actually shining and is wet. So to me looks pretty serious, will check outside tomorrow and tell my landlord, thats no paint job for him I think.

I assume the recent cold spell expanded the problem.
If Korean horror films are any indication, I'd suggest getting an exorcist in.

downstairs or upstairs? is that wall next to a bathroom/toilet?

Checked for any leaks in pipes outside?

It’s not been that cold, country’s getting worse with people moaning it’s called winter
Sky News had to bring out a news story that explained why it's cold when we have climate change...

I mean, I thought the answer would be "it's winter", but that isn't an educated view :)

Yeh it was cold for 2 weeks, big wow.. it's winter.

It's got to the point where it costs what it costs. Only so much you can do realistically.
What does this even mean?

Clearly if you're spending £90-100 on energy in one week there is still a lot you can do to reduce consumption and improve the thermal properties of your home. It may just take a good number of years to payback (or longer depending on what it is) but that will be accelerated by the current high prices (which aren't expected to drop much within a 5 year period).
