Winter 2022/23 - It's too cold :(

Had a bit of light rain this afternoon. It seems to be in the process of freezing. Should be fun on untreated surfaces in the morning.

Will see how long I can leave the downstairs heating off. Don’t use it in the week, upstairs is cozy warm :)

yep zero in cambridge, gritters/salters out,
poor bike chain will again take a dose tomorrow, last freeze definitely gave accelerated wear on the tyres, cracking.

I have had to much wine and brandy - Just sat down at PC and looked at CCTV monitor and there is this white stuff all over the garden -path's- lawns flower beds - shed roof. Had to call wife and asked her what it is - She said it looks like snow but I am not sure.
No sooner have I typed this and it's stopped - I knew it was my eyes.

-2C here weirdly it doesn't feel that cold but everything is icing up quickly - roads icing up in places despite heavy gritting, couple of our van drivers had brown trouser moments and been a couple of crashes because of it - but I didn't have any issues getting home - worst I had was slight scrabbling sensation and very slight lateral movement going up one hill.

EDIT: Facebook groups/news for local area full of people having ice related issues on the route I took home last night around the time I went through... end of the day ice is ice but personally just drove with a bit of caution, eased the brakes in/braked ahead of icy patches and planned my steering input to avoid unnecessary/sudden direction changes on potential ice and got through without incident, aside from a couple of junctions where water was still seeping off the fields earlier in the day due to the rain/flooding in recent days there wasn't that much ice, on the roads, that I saw.

Some really nasty stretches of road where the flooded parts have now turned into slush. Of course there’s an impatient van behind me, but sorry, I’m not carrying on at 50mph through slush and ice.
