Winter 2022/23 - It's too cold :(

The top of the car hadn’t thawed out today. I’ve never seen the roads as bad as they were this morning, all of the floods have turned to ice and slush. It doesn’t look like that’ll improve much this week either.

grass didn't thaw all day in Cambridge
....what garden work can you do when ground is frozen and grass suffers if you tread on it ?

Just clearing borders, tidying up. Its a huge garden, parts near house weren't too frozen so could do stuff there.

Grass is fine, people worry too much about it.

And there shouldn't be any thing to do in the garden at this time of year...
Plenty to do, got loads of Wisteria to give a final prune this or next month, just need it to be frost free for a bit.

Only really had two cold spells so been all go.

This isn't some back garden with a bit of grass and a border maybe.

Flakes of snow forecast around 0900 in Southampton!

... Or at least that's what Wunderground said at 0630, now forecasting nothing, but another chilly morning at -4C.

Garden work during winter is an absolute nope for me.

Its the best time for digging, muck compost spreading as you're overheating at any other time! Perfect weather for it at the moment as the sky is blue and theres that bright yellow thing in the sky its been so long since I've seen it I've forgotten its name. And its actually stopped raining for a couple of hours days. Hurrah.

And there shouldn't be any thing to do in the garden at this time of year...

Other than pruning, still clearing up leaves...

Ground is frozen here, wouldn't be digging that in a hurry

Should have been digging over soil before the cold snaps... Allows the frost to help break up the soil and improve structure

Snowing like crazy here in South Somerset, a little too damp and 1-2C too warm to come to much.

We had more snow last night than I have seen for years -At least 30mm -Everything is white over and it's still 0C.

I just hope the dustman can get here.

Loads to do this time of year, like you say, digging and clearing borders still needs doing, can't dig all borders too early, especially ones with bulbs in as they aren't showing until now, be digging them up and when you've planted 6000 daffodil bulbs in the past 2 years you tend to forget where they all are.
Lots of people like their gardens to look nice throughout winter so anyone doing nothing in their gardens now either aren't bothered what it looks like or have nothing in there that looks good now.
Hellebore border to sort tomorrow, sun will be on there tomorrow, if its out, so shouldn't be too chilly.
