lovely clear night, Venus and Jupiter doing their stuff, showing a light frost but i think my banana plants will be going again soon.
As regards soup and I've said before, my ninja is awesome , i chuck in red lentils a tin of tomato's, frozen veg, Mexican spice from b&m half of the empty can of water and press smooth soup, it makes it, heats it and even cleans itself, they are amazing and very cheap to run
edit takes 30 mins but i presoak lentils

So down my way (kent / sussex border) they're threatening snow and cold weather for the next week at least if not longer.. Joy of joys! I may just have to move my study into the main living room and put the fire on for the week! :D

The problem with soup is after about 30 mins I'm hungry again - I do like soup, but it's a starter really. But I eat a lot of calories. Lentil soup is amazing though.

Probably anecdotal but when I buy branded stuff from discount stores they tend to taste of lesser quality.
Sometimes the branded stuff can be cheaper when on offer in supermarkets. Some chocolate bars in Poundland are £1 for 3. Supermarkets sell 4 for £1.25. I know it’s 2p a bar cheaper.

Could you give us an example of branded stuff which is of a lower quality than if bought in a supermarket?

Probably need to look at barcode to see if they are the same

As an example, it seems only the budget stores stock the 3LTR Pepsi Max bottles but sometimes it has a really nasty taste as if it's cheap or gone off but it's always been in-date. Is it possible they give their 'bad batches' to these shops?

3 litres of fizzy drink in a bottle goes flat very quickly. Fine for a kids party or a BBQ where the bottle gets emptied within a couple of hours.

Another of those balanced on a knife edge scenarios - most likely outcome is quite meh aside from high ground in the north, but it would only take minor changes for a much more wintery event.
