I'll have to re-watch SCC I guess. I don't really see it myself. Perhaps I'm just transposing too much of what I know of the character in the books on to her though.

Sarah Connor Connorcles. I'm not usually into period drama sci fi, but this is pretty damn good. In my drama category i'd put it just behind breaking bad. In sci fi, i'd put it just behind TOS. It's epic, litterally.

The big difference between them is a lot of science fiction has a basis in reality, either through the mechanics of the world or it being a possible future of our world.

I don't differentiate between fantasy and sci-fi, imo they are just both made up stuff that could never ever happen in real life.
Sci-fi and fantasy are very different genres though. This explains fairly well:
Science fiction is largely based on writing rationally about alternative possibilities. It is similar to, but differs from fantasy in that, within the context of the story, its imaginary elements are largely possible within scientifically established or scientifically postulated laws of nature (though some elements in a story might still be pure imaginative speculation).

Technically sci-fi is a subset of fantasy. :)

I disagree entirely.

Fantasy and Science Fiction are both Fiction, but there the similarities end.

The only crossover is Sci-Fantasy. Neither is a subset of the other, they are wholly different.

I neither agree nor disagree... its a great programme so I dont care what genre you want to call it :p

It could reasonably be argued (and has been) that all fiction is a subset of fantasy: the only question is: how fantastic? But AGD's viewpoint is a common one, and I'd tend to agree. But there are no borders: there's not a big fence saying: "You are leaving SF and entering Fantasy: Here Be Dragons". Read Gene Wolfe's New Sun stuff (it's worth it anyway): this is SF that is so much fantasy that most of the time you forget that it's SF. And remember Clarke's Third Law. The overlap of F and SF is huge.

Just got back from holiday where I managed to read both A Game Of Thrones and A Clash Of Kings and i'm thoroughly impressed.

All I want to say is that I hope and pray the final scene of this season is exactly the same as how GOT ends in the book, it has the potential to be one of the most memorable TV fantasy scenes ever. If you've read the book you know what I mean...if not, wait and see :D
