Enjoyed tonight but the acting felt really wooden to me, almost as if many of the scenes had been shot at the start of filming. Timing felt off for some off reason and just felt, well wooden.
The guy playing hodar put no effort in the way he said hodar, baring in mind he's meant to be a lumbering halfwit with only the word "hodar" in his vocabulary, they guy may as well winked as he said it. Still at least he has his bits out.

That dragon girl is fit! They need to get her naked more imo. Midget guy is hilarious! And the blonde kid, the queens son, i don't know how they've done it, maybe he is just like that in real life, but he just has a face i want to cave in with my fist, then his attitude and body language make me realise how much more i want to do it. First time i saw him ride in on that horse i knew he was a class a ****.

This is seriously one of the best scifi programmes I've ever watched. It's also nice to know if the Americans are slow witted idiots who don't give the show the ratings it deserves and HBO can it, that i can pick up the books to read instead.

Is there going dragons in this or just people? One of those eggs has got to hatch surely?

I'm also amazed at the amount of English people in this, it seems quite wierd why America was even interested in this.

I'm also wondering if anyone else has noticed how big the knobs are in this book, or if it is just me and i have a small **** :(

Nope no links and i'm not going to spoil, just watch it tonight. I'm not going to break ocuk rules

whats this rule everybody keeps banging on about ?

The Episode that is aired on the Monday on the UK is shown the day before in the US (on the sunday).

Given that people are discussing it at 11am the morning after most will just be reading websites which discuss the night before's TV, rather than having downloaded the show illegally as good quality rips of the TV episode take a day or two to appear.

So discussing TV website is banned or something ?

Anyone have any idea when the show will be available to non sky users either it be on Blu ray/DVD or on normal TV/cable? Apologies if its already been asked but I'm at work and dont fancy reading the whole thread to find out.

The rule is the one in the stickied thread explaining the rules.

"NO discussion of movies or tv shows that haven't been released in the UK, if it hasn't been shown in a UK cinema or on a UK tv station, no discussion is allowed."

As the rule says, if it hasnt been shown on a UK tv station, you cant talk specifics about it. Doesnt matter if its been shown in the US , or in France, or in someones house in downtown Peckham. If its not been shown on a UK tv station, no specifics. Its a pretty straight forward rule, its not particularly obtuse and is quite black and white. Rules is rules and all that.

Not sure when it comes out on DVD/bluray, as for normal TV..I'm guessing its not going to air on normal tv/cable. Only reason I think that is because of Sky Atlantic being the official HBO channel now, I think had Atlantic not come about and it had just been Sky buying the show to put on a channel , it would then later be on another channel, but I wouldnt be at all surprised if part of the HBO/SKY deal is that Sky has exclusive rights for new HBO series to be on the HBO channel, Sky Atlantic.

Nakedness of either sex doesnt offend or bother me but it's getting a wee bit gratuitous (spl?) now I'm finding. Hodor running into the wood served no purpose, the lesbian scene served no purpose (and is made up I think) and there have been other bits and peices.

If it serves a purpose put it in, don't shirk from showing anything to get the story across, but pointless nudity lowers the tone and just feels a little like a shock tactic for a ratings grab.

Also who is it Syrio goes toe to toe with? Can't recall without going back through the books.

Am I missing something?
This HAS been shown in the UK, on Sky Atlantic HD, last night at 9pm, the same esisode aired in the US just the night before, so we're only 1 day behind.
We can discuss anything we like about it at this point, as both sides of the atlantic have seen to the same point. For a period of around 16 hours however we can't discuss things as some folks may have downloaded whilst others await the UK broadcast.

I really enjoyed episode 8, in fact, I've enjoyed all of it so far. I thought developments in the North certainly make things interesting at the wall.
I liked the fact the wee girl escaped capture with her needle, and if I recall her wolf is somewhere outside the city to be rediscovered later.
Old Ned, he does rather expect more than people will attain, the battles to come should prove interesting, I wonder will the season end with a charge, a battle, a who lives who dies style event, no doubt it will.

Just as this seaosn is 10 episodes, it doesn't mean future ones might not be more, and they might be ableto extend content, but little of this feels rushed, it just seems to move with pace so i am rather glad.
I'll probably start reading this series of books now, I had not thus far.

I was assuming the poster was asking why we couldnt discuss the episode yesterday (prior to the UK showing), seeing as it had been aired in the US already. I may have read it wrong though.

.

Yeah I think they have gone a bit OTT. I am currently reading the book and lots of the nudity/sex scenes aren't in the book however they vastly shortened the sex scenes on the tv as the scenes relating to the Dragon lady were much more graphic and lengthly. They should have put more of her in it.:(

I know what you mean about rushed yet each episode is only about 60 to 70 pages of the book which is hardly a lot.

I remember the Hodor full frontal scene in the book, though I'm not sure the character that plays Hodor is how I pictured him. I didn't have a problem with it being in the TV show, they were always going to show the Bran-Osha scene in the godswood so they would have had to change what happened in the book to remove Hodor's appearance

No they take a matter of hours to appear, he'd obviously downloaded and watched it in the morning and then had to let us know how cool he is by being all mysterious about it instead of just saying nothing until it's aired in the UK.

The problem with this show is that the second it ends, I want more :(

oddly as he came on screen with his tackle flying around i was led on the bed naked after a shower next to my wife all shrivelled up... i felt ashamed :D
