Winter Transfer Window 22/23

I'm undecided about Troussard, in the modern market the pricetag isn't that horrendous for a player coming from a PL club but obviously we all know the reason he's leaving is he's fallen out with the manager due to leaving training early, with Arteta's track record for discipline that's something to keep an eye on. I guess it helps that Guendouzi has moved on or that could've been another flash point.
It also raises some questions about Pepe's future at the club, he's got another year left when he returns from loan but potentially this might push him further down the pecking order and you don't really want your £72m man restricted to the domestic cup competitions. Might be best to cash in during the summer.

I guess his versatility helps, part of me was thinking right now would Danny Ings not have been a better option for 70% of the price to take some of the load off Nketiah but obviously he's a bit older (so very much a short-term move) and less able to fill in for others than Troussard so would be kinda 'redundant' when Jesus is fit again (what's the ETA, Easter Sunday?).

Your fighting for the title and want Ings?! Even West Ham don’t want him and they’re in the bottom 3.

I think you’re under estimating the quality of Trossard. His technical ability is brilliant as is his adaptability, LWB, and all across the attack including ST. I said last season that I wasn’t sure why big clubs weren’t in for him. It’s also funny how people mention his bad behaviour when we know nothing of the story. It’s not like your signing a Aubmeyang

Im sure ben white will of had conversations with edu and arteta about trossard.

I dont have any concerns about his attitude sounds like it was fine before the new Brighton manager took over

Albert Stuivenberg was manager of Genk for just under a year whilst Trossard was in the squad and one of their key players.

After dealing decisively with negative or unprofessional personalities within the club, and setting out clearly his expectations on a consistent basis, any player with a sniff of an attitude issue won't get near this Arteta Arsenal squad.

Maybe he just didn’t like his new boss. It happens. I don’t particularly like mine. Seems to me he was just trying to force a move away and likely had knowledge there was interest in him, I don’t see a lot wrong with that. Players have always done this, doesn’t mean they are bad apples.
At that price on a proven premier league player of his age you can’t go wrong.

Various reports are indicating that the Wood deal is heavily weighted in Newcastle direction.

Wouldn't have let him go otherwise. Howe said himself to good to turn down.

No avoid relegation clause for the deal to be made permanent.

Loan fee then 15m if he meets the clauses.

25million spent last winter to help us fight off relegation (which he did) and now a partial refund :)

He's going to score the winner vs Manu in the SF isn't he ^^

Seems a good deal @Bigpig
Wood seems like a canny lad, I like him. It's just a shame he's not up to the standard we need moving forward. Great that a decent deal has been made.
Not sure about all this interest in Gordon though. I haven't seen much of him, but based on what I have seen I'm not keen.

Interesting how FFP has changed the contracts people are getting.

They're all now on ridiculously long contracts to lessen the annual FFP impacts of over inflated transfer fees.

All we're seeing now is owners saddling clubs with long term commitments to players with no long term commitment to funding them.

So far Trossard is done with the following looking very likely; Kiwior & Fresneda. Linked with a loan move for Camavinga and there are rumours we're still looking for a striker. If it all comes off its quite a massive boost to the overall quality of the squad.

Only a good deal if we get a replacement mind!!

I’d still like us to go for toney

From reading about this guy seems pretty highly rated in the AIK team, sounds like he’s possibly not being loaned out as well which is a different approach to normal! €6mil certainly worth the gamble, hope he’s another star.

Why don't premier league teams do this kind of scouting anymore. Wasting millions on rubbish instead. People forget Schmeichel and OGS were signed in similar vein to these buys and turned out to be epic.

Really don't want Gordon. Will be over priced. Hard to make a judgement on him, at this moment in time I'd rather we didn't and secured a top class CM.

Yeah wouldn't be my favourite but it's definitely someone we fancy.

Few players have definitely hit their ceiling this season.

Front line needs help.

Winger and CAM would be nice.

Think Howe mentioned Ashworth will try and bring the summer plans forward but there's not a lot of time left.

Mind you I think we did most of our business in the final day or two last January.

I was convinced Maddison was incoming when the TV showed him in the stand when we played them. :D
Would have been done and dusted by now if it was.

Except at Leicester, we still only doing 2-4 year contracts, our board seem a bit clueless at the moment.
