Wolfenstein: The New Order

I bought this game for £17 also and was met with a 44gb download (thank god for fibre optic) and when I put it on I was met with very few graphics options and meh graphics with lots of jaggy edges and crap performance at full settings.

It does not support sli and runs like crap when sli is forced and when you force AA it runs like a dog (a really slow dog)

Typical QTE's and key mashing in places, AI is so stupid at times and overall the game is flat. To top it all off my save magically disappeared and the the graphic configuration etc reset itself as if it was my first time starting the game.

Really unimpressed with this and I feel cheated out of £17, I feel bad for people who paid more.

Interesting about setting being reset, that's what enemy territory used to do (still does) hence using same code I guess.

I loved it and thought it ran very well on my aging GTX 460. Didn't notice any bugs, didn't lose my save game although you will want to play it on the highest difficulty if you want a challenge. Well worth the money.

Well I restarted the game today, not that I had a choice, and it is running a solid 60 at max settings so I am much happier at that and can now hopefully play through the game without my opinion on it being hampered by performance issues.

I have no idea why its running much better now, I haven't done anything.

Could've been one of the graphical settings. I played mine at 1920x1080 on medium with a few of the settings turned up to high or ultra but touching the screen-space reflections dropped performance from 55-60 FPS to low 20's so decided to keep that off :o

Just finished this yesterday, I felt it had a great story and was just let down with the problems and being way to much of a console game.

Enemy's were bullet sponges, similar to rage, the weapons never felt all that satisfying and when I got the cool laser rifles I get them taken away on the way down which kinda sucks :).
Most of the weapons were pretty awful as well nothing interesting, I wish they had had the particle cannon from the 2009 Wolfenstein that was a fun weapon the way it would reach out and move around when firing.
I also felt like with the laser cutting tool which is good as a idea but as you could only cut set areas just seems like there was no point to it you can have just replaced every panel with a crowbar to lever it off and it would have been no different.
I remember when its in the little test bay it cuts through thick metal like butter and I though OMG that is going to be a awesome weapon slicing through enemy's, but no it sucked.
It just shows the lack of imagination from most game developers, I mean we had red faction in 2001 where you could destroy just about everything and now we have the same limited game mechanics with some stupid special effects.

I also hate how slow he moves I know this is done so it can be played on the consoles as you cant aim as fast with a pad but it really sucks.
Same issue I have with all the COD and battlefield games every special forces dude can only run for 10m without keeling over its just stupid.
Bring back my face paced FPS its just too slow and clunky these days, even the original Wolfenstein is faster paced.

GFX
Textures popping in and out like rage. Way too many special effects every time you fire a weapon you pretty much get blur, massive shaking and cant see which is stupid.

I hate all those stupid effects DOF, blur, etc wish I could turn them off but no, all locked down for some dumb reason like rage.
Its the lack of options which really does my head in every previous ID based game you could change whatever you liked to get it the way you wanted it or problem solve and sort your won problems out.
I know you can change some things but you still cant disable those stupid effects.

I much preferred Wolfenstein 2009 made by raven, I think this game would have been a lot better if raven had of made it.
Plus i miss my Thule medallion :)

Its certainly not a terrible game but nothing special and felt like I was forcing myself to finish it to get it of my hard drive, 40gb and still not that impressive in scope or gfx, just recently started playing metro and its just fantastic in comparison.
I was hoping for something much better but lets be honest there has not been many good shooters for a long while, thanks consoles for ruining that genre.

Rant over for now.... :)

I agree with a lot of this. It's not a bad game but it ain't great and I won't be keeping it on my hdd when it's done. It will follow the same fate as Tomb Raider and Bioshock Infinite, complete it ASAP and get rid.

It's another console fps on pc.

There is a reason the likes of Arma, Fallout and Xcom stay on my hdd but the likes of New Order etc don't.

I have to say I have really quite enjoyed New Order it has really engaged me and I have enjoyed the story.

The Graphics aren't as good as they could be and they don't run as good as they should either and I am using a 7990.

I have quite a way through the game and have played the whole thing on the hardest difficulty as I normally do with games I play and the AI has been pretty good.

Really??? Tomb Raider is a fantastic game, what didn't you like about it?

You're weird. Each to there own though I guess.

Completed relatively quickly and considering playing through again on hardest difficulty using the different storyline.

Enjoyed it while it lasted and storyline was solid and involving.

Graphical issues were a HUGE problem for me as the game doesn't support SLI and the texture pop-in was unbearable at points

Did you ever use the shotgun?

I thought the shotgun was great most of the time. But my choice of weapon(s) always depends on the enemies I am fighting at the time. It all depends on how heavily armoured they are. Played this a few times now, working my way up the difficulty modes. Enjoy it every time. :D

I guess its just my taste in games. Tomb Raider was utter meh and the end sequence where it was ''press this key'' now ''press that key'' now ''mash that key'', oh you've won!!! was a major major let down.

Bioshock Infinite was ok but I will never play it again and New Order will follow this trend.

I'm not weird I just like great games, I'm picky and not easily satisfied by the titles mentioned.

Dualwield assault rifles took down even the toughest of enemies for me?

You cannot blame the game & assume everyone has gfx problems.

I played it thru with zero issues except having to reset the gfx config when I bought a 34" 21:9 ultra wide monitor & the game would not auto detect it.

If you do not think the gfx are superb there must be something wrong on your system its one of the best looking most detailed PC games made in a long time but you need a high end PC to appreciate it all then there is zero texture pop-in either!

Wolfenstein was easily one of my favourite games of the year both graphically and gameplay wise. The advanced graphics options are there too?
