Woo-hoo, the clocks go back to GMT this weekend!

I kinda impressed I managed to sleep through to 6am, which is my normal waking time. I was expecting to wake a 5am... How does a body clock do that? I never sleep to 7am, never! (I went to bed at my normal 10:20pm ish)

Most times at work when the clocks change, get someone banging on the door shouting “why aren’t you open? It’s 10am” when clocks go back.

Then when clocks go forward, get someone pull up in our car park under the store as myself and other colleagues leave “it’s only 3:30pm”

Obviously didn’t look at their phone, any computer/tablet or other devices that change the time automatically

Many years ago I worked in cinema, where of course everything is based on movie start times. It was amazing how far into the week you would sometimes get people showing up an hour off after the clocks change. What do these people do that they have no need to know what time it is for days on end

Are you ever happy? :D

I'm so pleased that we'll be back to GMT (UTC, Z, etc) this coming weekend.

We invented time, we invented Greenwich, we invented longitude and we invented clocks*

We'll be back to proper time again... BST can go swivel.

Everyone gets an extra hour sleep, everyone can be happy. GMT is the bestest!

*some of this may not be entirely factual

For the life of me, I don't understand why we still follow the archaic system of changing the clocks twice a year. It causes endless problems with humans and animals alike.

I even get people not liking the heat. I understand that. (I mean they are wrong.. But hey)
What I can't get is anyone wanting darker evenings.

Like others have said its unhealthy. Why it's a thing I will never know. I'd rather it flipped other way.
GMT+2 all year round. That would be amazing.
Same amount of daylight hours.....

I love dark evenings actually, especially my walks as all the other people are staying inside.

Woke up, dog didn’t figure out the clocks went back, so got up at 6AM, fed the dog, let him out, watched yesterdays F1 qualifying.. about to take the dog out for an early Sunday walk.. all good..

Doesn't legionnaires die at 60 degrees?

HSE advise a minimum temp of regular 60 degrees heat cycle to kill legionnaire bacteria.

Cooling towers are designed to operate at 60 degrees for this reason as they create and blow steam which can rapidly spread legionnaires for miles around.

Yes, 60deg stored. 80deg for pasteurisation purposes.

Cooling towers never hit 60deg, if they do, something's very wrong. They should stay around 30-40 max but this will depend on the installation and age. It's why we use things like bromine to dose the towers, as thermal disinfection isn't an option.
