Woo-hoo, the clocks go back to GMT this weekend!

One thing I don’t understand is how my timer for hot water and heating knows which Sundays the clocks change as done automatically. Been through all the different displays and can’t find a date! Plus the immersion heater. Got a heat source pump but water only heats to 62c. Have the IH on for 20 mins a day (minimum time) to top water to 65c as legionella kills at 64c.

On the subject of heat source pumps, which the govt want most of us to have- hopefully they will get more engineers. As have a two yearly service and very few engineers that do this. Mitsubishi- the manufacturers of the hsp won’t touch the internal parts that doesn’t have their name on. Think for every 200 gas engineers, there’s just one heat source pump engineer. That’s in my area, unsure about other areas.

Doesn't legionnaires die at 60 degrees?

HSE advise a minimum temp of regular 60 degrees heat cycle to kill legionnaire bacteria.

Cooling towers are designed to operate at 60 degrees for this reason as they create and blow steam which can rapidly spread legionnaires for miles around
Yes, 60deg stored. 80deg for pasteurisation purposes.

Cooling towers never hit 60deg, if they do, something's very wrong. They should stay around 30-40 max but this will depend on the installation and age. It's why we use things like bromine to dose the towers, as thermal disinfection isn't an option.

They cool water from 60 degrees down to 30 degrees.

No, they don't. They cool from whatever temperature they receive to whatever ambient is. They don't always achieve this however, hence elevated temps.

I was wondering why my not so smartwatch was saying i'd had 12:30 hours of sleep last night when I was getting up less than 12 hours after going to bed (although to be honest it felt like i'd only been in bed for a few minutes).

I need to reset the kitchen clock, microwave and oven.

Used to love the extra hour in bed but not so much now we have kids. Clocks going back just means they wake up at 5am instead of 6am :(

I already have lights on it and I will still go out for a ride but its really not as nice. Don't get me wrong sometimes I like to go out for a ride at night but after work its nice to get out in the sun for a bit..
Do like I did and request you change your hours.
I work 6:30 to 14:20 now. Home for 15:00. Best thing I ever did.

Grim. So grim.

I am going to ask if I can change my hours at work. Start at 730 and finish at 1600

Because this is just grim. I hate winter so bad much for so many reasons (not just the weather).

It annoys me that I spend 4 months of the year hating it! :D. Emigration can't come soon enough!

People forget that the times of sunrise and sunset don't change per day. For example, tomorrow's sunrise and sunset times (info from BBC weather) is 6:57 and 16:39. It has been those times for goodness how long.

I can remember certain times when it gets dark. When I finish work at 20:30, its daylight then between 3rd week in May and 3rd week August. How do I remember this? It's the time of the month when my grandad died and then its my mum's birthday.
