Woolwich serious incident

Sky News are asking Eric Pickles if he thinks we need to do more to protect Muslims and Mosques.

You don't need to make it up.
Are not the innocent & completely unrelated to this incident Muslims who's temples may get fire-bombed, or persons may get stabbed/bodies beaten in retaliation just as innocent as the young man who was brutally murdered?.

What backlash has there been, one incident as far as I am aware.

Two wasn't it? (that have been reported so far), but if the perception is that there is going to be a backlash against - what would be on the vast vast majority - of innocent people, should we not react to that?

Which is how I interpreted your original statement, that for some reason it was incredulous that we should want to protect Mosques and Muslims

It depends on whether you feel that Islam and therefore the Muslims themselves are a threat to our western freedom. We know that many Muslims are sympathetic to other Muslims seemingly holding them in higher esteem than their fellow country man, with many wishing that the UK was an Islamic state..

Anyone else not surprised to hear the PC PC, Lord Ian Blair, called in to defend the police and security service's inaction over the two killers.

Give it a rest Scorza .....

To be fair, I was quite impressed by the Armed Response Unit once they arrived on scene.

I'm afraid though, the message I'm getting from the Police, the Security Services and Government is 'Get used to this sort of thing happening, because we're not going to do anything to prevent it happening again. Don't worry, we'll bend over backwards to prevent attacks against the Muslim community though'.

How have you got that impression?

A random attack is just that - random. The police can't be everywhere at once.

This is the kind of comment I was referring to earlier. It boggles the mind how people write this stuff, look at it and go "yes, that's a sensible thing to say in a serious thread *POST*".

oh dear

Good interview on the BBC website where Anjem Choudary is completely shot down by real Muslims, condemning the death of Lee Rigby.

There is no such thing as "real Muslims", seriously why do people come up with phrases which divide communities? If anything real Muslims ceased to exist 3 generations after the Prophet Mohammad died. All we have today are INDIVIDUALS who have their own agendas, ideologies, views and act in the name of religion which they have no authority to do.

What protection did the police give to Drummer Lee Rigby then?

do you think there should be at least one body guard per person in the whole of UK?

Killing him was wrong, but stooping down to that level by destroying buildings (i.e. backlash) is even worse. You are showing you are no more intelligent than those murderers.

If we go by people's thinking then we should all shoot down Ireland because of the IRA, after all the IRA speak for all of the Ireland doesn't it? Of course they dont, same way those two don't speak for the whole Religion.

What does get me is that something needs to be done to stop these extremists. More education? etc to stop things like this from happening.

You are a very learned man.

Makes no difference to a lot of people as they need someone to blame
