Faith schools are normal schools.

Of course they are

The government says it will not tolerate anti-Semitic and homophobic lessons being taught to Muslim children in the UK.
BBC Panorama found that more than 40 Saudi Students' Schools and Clubs are teaching the official Saudi national curriculum to about 5,000 pupils.
One text book shows how the hands and feet of thieves are chopped off.

? why do people go into teacher training? You are illogical.

What are you talking about?

You want to close down faith schools and re-open them as non-faith schools, is what i think I've discerned from your dribbling on your keyboard.

However, you have taken teachers out of 'normal' schools (normal in quotes because C of E schools are, to all intents and purposes, normal schools and yet are faith based) and put them in 'faith' schools. I just don't know who you think is going to take up the slack in the normal schools when the faith schools in this country outnumber them.

Ban faith schools (all faiths)
No children allowed on religion until 18 or perhaps 16 When they can make there minds on religion rather than being given no choice

Its one of the biggest causes of problems with religion, even a lot of extremism stems back to it, whether its indoctrination from a young age at home, church or school, or being forced into a way of life since birth without any easy way out of it (guess that doesn't apply just to religion) often in a well meaning but misguided way. Problem is its a much bigger and more complex issue that as a generalisation stems back to how messed up and backwards the human race really is.

I am not talking about doing it overnight, you train new teachers to replace the teachers who no longer want to teach in non faith school some would still like a job teaching one would presume.

Well, yes, I'm sure they would, but you'd have to re-write the whole curriculum and retrain them all.

Very difficult. Impractical or impossible perhaps.

Non-faith if you must , normal as in the majority

Pedantic for the sake of it ?

The majority of schools are non-faith schools? What do you mean by non-faith schools, that they are not aided by a religious body or that they do not teach religious education?

If you do remove all voluntary aided and controlled faith schools (which account for about a third of all schools in the UK) how do you suggest we pay to replace them?

Atheist schools where all teachers wear fedoras and worship World of Warcraft.

I quite like Christian Schools and village fetes, they make quite nice tea and scones too.

The vast majority of teachers in 'faith' schools are normal teachers of all kinds of beliefs and none. The ethos of a school doesn't dictate its prescribed curriculum or the beliefs of its staff. You are confusing a faith school with a religious school...they are different things.

So you only teach elementary mathematics in these schools then?

As pointed out, given that a huge number of schools are faith-funded how do you pay to replace them?

Ding ding...and we have a winner.

Faith schools generally come in two flavours...one where the religious body contributes a minimum 10% to all capital costs or one where the buildings and land are owned by the religious body, generally in the UK either the CofE or The Catholic Church.

Who is going to fund that lost 10% and either buy or build all the new schools to replace the thousands of schools closed, this appears to something Badcompany hasn't considered.

To be fair, I was quite impressed by the Armed Response Unit once they arrived on scene.

I'm afraid though, the message I'm getting from the Police, the Security Services and Government is 'Get used to this sort of thing happening, because we're not going to do anything to prevent it happening again. Don't worry, we'll bend over backwards to prevent attacks against the Muslim community though'.

Devise a strategy that elimates all conspiracies, radicalism, attacks and guarantees safety then. You'll walk into any CTU provider.

We'll be waiting a long time .......

If it was a question purely of the ethical issue as the tone of the original post you can't really put cost into the equation as a balancing factor.

Something I'd overlooked when I replied to his post tho is that not all faith schools and increasingly less in Christian backed schools (no idea on other religions) push their religion onto their students.
