Trials where the primary objectives of the perpetrator is attention shouldn't be reported, they should just report that its started, concluded and what the result was. The media circus surrounding it is just what they want.
both been found guilty, no surprise there realy
They'll no doubt get life sentences but life should mean life in cases like this. Stick the vermin in a pit and give them chicken feed for the rest of their lives.
Apparently they took 90 minutes to reach a verdict. Im also quite surprised that they were found not guilty of attempted murder of a police officer. Did the one with the gun not fire at officers who had arrived on the scene?
Did the jury walk out, turn around and come straight back in?

Did they decide this when they re-watched the footage of the guy at the scene holding a meat cleaver covered in blood
what was the basis of their defense?
Basically the same defence as used by loyalist/republican terrorists here in northern ireland. That they are soldiers fighting in a war so it does not count, basically.
Did the jury walk out, turn around and come straight back in?
The attempted murder charge was brought up because he pointed the gun at the police, which is when they shot him. Pointing a gun at someone if sufficient to charge them with attempted murder - especially in those circumstances.
No-one was disputing they killed him, just whether it was murder or not, as I believe the defendants claimed it was a killing of an enemy soldier?
thus the equittal..The gun wasn't loaded, they had no ammunition for it and it wasn;t in working order, which is why they got found not guilty for attempted murder of a police officer.
It's still grounds for attempted murder. As evidenced by them being charged with it.They took that gun with them purely so that the police would shoot them
