Woolwich serious incident

It's nauseating that he gets an appeal at considerable expense but the rule of law must come first.

Interesting that he's appealing against sentence and not conviction.

I think that to appeal against conviction you need a fairly solid reason for it, such as new evidence or a legal issue with the original conviction?

Is it wrong to want the death penalty in this case? I mean there's absolutely no doubt he did it. Considering the serious nature of the crime, that it's all caught on video why are we wasting money jailing him for life?

Well yes, because hacking people to death and leaving their headless body in the town square is what they do.

As long as we don't do the same we can continue to regard their kin as barbaric animals.

Stopping Cameron/Clegg/Miliband from sucking up to them before we turn into Sweden is the hard bit.

Put him up in the stocks with his bum exposed in Brighton. :D

Seriously though, I don't even know why appeal is even entertained when his guilt is beyond all doubt.

Frustrating that the police managed to actually shoot and not kill these two... when it would have been better all around if they had. In fact it seems its what the pair of them would have wanted too.

If death is what they wanted then I am glad they didn't get killed tbh.

Yup, punish murder with murder...great idea!

R must have something to allow him to appeal, but there's no way he'll get away with it.

its not a punishment its an elimination of the problem... they were armed and charged the police immediately after murdering someone - they posed an immediate threat to the lives of those officers and were therefore shot as a result. Its just a shame they didn't also die as a result of being shot... we've then had to waste a lot of money both giving them a trial and locking them up.... one day one or both of them might also be released as old men. (after having cost us rather a lot of money). I'm just saying that them being dead would have been a much more efficient solution all around.

They get to rot in prison rather than becoming martyrs, seems a fair deal to me.

This... can you imagine the nutters if they'd been killed?

I doubt it would have made much difference, they'd already carried out the main event so to speak - the brutal murder... that's what got the headlines whether they'd died or not after that doesn't really add or takeaway from the impact the event itself had.
