Woolwich serious incident

We already do live under religious rule!

Not really, I know that some laws have religious basis, but I'm talking about things like state regulated religious views, and mandatory religious beliefs, or rather you *have* by law subscribe to a religion.

Like in Malaysia, if you are born in to a Muslim family, it's illegal for you to eat non-halal food, drink alcohol or denounce your religion.

We have sharia law in the UK already!

We don't.

I think everyone should step back from the keyboard for a few minutes and enjoy this:

"I do wonder how it felt for the Woolwich attackers, whose ideology predicates upon the total suppression of women... to be shot by a woman"

I expect it felt like getting hit by a sledgehammer with a sharp burning sensation following by a strange wetness with an associated feeling of time dilation and falling down.

85 sharia courts upto now.

Do you mean Islamic councils, that are not recognised by the state?

I could set up a room in my house, listen to people's troubles, tried to be an arbiter in their disputes and call it a court.

It doesn't make it one.

Fair enough :)

Yeah, the pain of their bullet wounds as they lie shackled to their hospital beds must be compounded by the sense of irony from the knowledge of who shot them.

That's strange, no muslim I know wants to?

Oh right, you are just making things up.

Sorry to burst your bubble but unfortunatly i'm not

We do?

By 'devout' (or devote as you put it) do you mean extremist?

I know of devout Muslims that do not smoke, do not drink, follow their scriptures, pray when the time demands... they would defend the country before changing it to an Islamic state.

Just ask them a few them, they won't immiately admit it purely not to scare the crap out of you, but deep down they do

Take any devote Muslims, and press him on this issue and he would agree, he'll deny it at first but he'll admit it in the end. (A lot of them don't even need that much pressing!)

This is scary indeed and needs to be stamped out

Please don't stick your head in the sand, I've been heavy involved in the Muslims community at one time (was Married to one) and i have extensive experiance on Muslims attitudes

Dem anecdotes.

Please, tell me more about how your personal experience is the definitive one.

according to the beeb we have sharia councils and courts in britain already.

Don't mistake the fact that they call them courts for them having any sort of legal powers.

They are nothing more than a voluntary mediation service that help people settle civil matters according to their religious beliefs.

I'm glad we can all agree on something then!

pm told cobra, best way of defeating terror to go about life as normal....Cameron has no balls.

Unfounded supposition about the Prime Ministers anatomical details aside he's right. If you allow terrorism to change how you live your life then you are in effect letting them win - there is a trade off point where you have taken reasonable precautions and after that you're going too far in changing your life to fit with what the terrorists want. They (generally speaking) want to affect your life and to stop you living it - whether they succeed in their stated goals of imposing XX way of life or just in so altering the level of freedom you can have then it's basically a victory for them.

There are selected Sharia courts/tribunals in the UK but you've got to explicitly request and agree to be under their jurisdiction. It's a bit like arbitration, if you don't agree to abide by the ruling of the court then it isn't applicable.
