...There's about 3 form players in the squad, not enough consistency or goals.

Lampard, Terry & A. Cole are definitely in form, so is Rooney, him and Lampard offer plenty of goals as does Crouch for England.
Milner is in form too, so are King, Dawson & Hart.
Our squad relies a bit too much on people either staying fit or gaining form unfortunately.

Yeah, but once Gerrard has had a run as captain and is still **** at international level then people can no longer say "Giving him the captaincy would make all the difference". Surely that's the best outcome of this WC?

Not really, the only good outcome from this WC has nothing to do with individuals.

Losing Rio is massive for us, 2010 would have been his 4th world cup, he played in every game in 2002 and 2006, you cant teach that experience and anyone coming into his position is going to have to man up quick.

King is hardly a younger player getting a big chance, he's 29!

To be fair I honestly didn't realise his age.

Still doesn't remove the fact he is being given a huge chance to do his country proud after injuries have stopped him having a real chance before (and may well do again). Could also be his last chance.

I think he's been superb the last few time he's played.

I'm not the only one that thinks this either: http://www.goal.com/en/news/1863/world-cup-2010/2010/06/04/1959298/england-legend-bryan-robson-ledley-king-is-perfect

JT for El Capitan with Frank Lampard as vice. JT should never have had it removed due to the media witch hunt that everyone bought into.

Gerrard no thank you. Giving him the responsibility of if captain is not suddenly going to make him perform in an England Shirt. In fact I can see the move being counter productive. If all the other players are doing there bit but 'Captain Awol' is giving his usual 5 or 6 out of 10 performance, what is that going to do for morale of the team

Im not a fan of Heskey myself but all i have to say is he has done England 2 big favours recently. Kept Darren Bent out of the England Squad (don't rate him at all and i know he scored 25 goals this season, but look at Andy Johnson few years ago and where is he now? not doing very well at Everton. IMO I would have taken agbonlahor, would have gave us some pace upfront at least) and then ruled ferdinand out as well. Yes he was our captain but like King is very injury prone (as you can see). He would have gotten injured during the tournament when we couldn't call anyone else up. I prefer King as I see him been better when they actually play. Ferdinand makes to many "bad calls" where king seems to read the game. IMO I would choose Hart as our number 1 as he has had a better season than both other keepers but capello will have his reasons if he chooses James or Green (probably experience)

P.S sorry about the rant haha :)

I'm no fan of J.T, hardly the morale authority and happily screwed around on his wife with is it two team mates.

But Gerrard, biggest diver in the league, more than willing to utterly cheat in an embarassing way, he's a mouthy git, puts in some truly awful tackles now and then(JT does to but its rare for an attacking midfielder), helps beat the crap out of a defenseless guy with a group of his mates and has always sucked for England despite pretty much having the team built around him. Lampard is the best english attacking midfielder we've had, almost ever, in terms of league performance, consistancy, goals and assists. Yet he, the more disciplined and better defensively, always plays the deeper role for England while Gerrard gets to play in his best role. Lampard in far from his best position may never shine, but is very rarely poor and normally pretty good.

Lampard is like by everyone, a seemingly decent bloke who I'm sure has dived but I can't remember any specifically and if he does, its very rare. He's not overly mouthy, he's fairly calm, he's consistant and he's a certain starter, is Gerrard, really?

I'd pick Lampard as Captain, Jt or keeper as vice.

AS for Bent, he's had several previous very high scoring seasons, he was IIRC the highest scoring Englishman while at Charlton, has done it again(well almost) at another fairly low club and didn't do terribly at Spurs considering he was never first team and both managers basically kept telling him he was crap and would only play him with no other choice, and he still scored a bunch.

Johnson IIRC scored a LOAD of penalties and has since been absolutely plagued by injuries, Bents been the same quality/level for 6 year or so.

I say Lampard, Rooney and Milner have decent form. The rest have been patchy. I don't think Terry or Cole have been either good enough or fit enough this year.n Hopefully they can all up their games but this is england and I fully expect another year of if onlys and a scapegoat.

More than likely rooney when he gets a few yellows and misses a game leaving us to rely on people that don't get enough goals.

Opps sorry. Just shows how much I hear of him now. Last I heard he was at Everton. Still not doing well their though either. Zamora on the other hand has been fantastic

Has he not being out injured ?

King is a good footballer, he's not spring chicken well he's more of an older crippled chicken.

Dawson has had a decent season, still doesn't strike me as being International standard though.

I see the media are setting King and Capello up for the fall should King miss a game. Constantly talking about King being at training but not training.

Capello knows this. King hasn't done conventional training for more than a year now. He does his work in the gym or pool. One thing he doesn't need training on is defensive ability. It's purely his fitness and looking after his knees at this stage.

I wouldn't take the "media" too seriously. They’ve got nothing much to write about until we play a game.
