lol, its the people with total belief in England winning who get the biggest dissappointment who then cease to enjoy good football because England are out. They also tend to be completely blinded as to what good football is, England played great, is basically all the blind faith people think.
I enjoy good football, whoever plays it, if England won I'd be happy, and any team can win any competition any time, hugely easier in a knock out competition.
If Spain played England 20 times in a row, the current Spain side would probably win 17 or 18 out of 20. The simple fact is they are better defensively, in midfield and in attack, England have a better left and right back(which is more a commentary on just how bad Ramos is than how good Johnson is) but Spains back 4 plays better together and gets better organised cover from midfield and upfront.
But in a one off game, can England win, sure, in a one off game USA can spank Spain by a couple goals and put in a superb performance....... as proved when they did just that in the confed cup where Spain played a strong team and didn't play badly.
In a knockout anything can happen but realistically, form, quality the massively more likely outcome is England lose a game against anyone half decent.
The hilarious thing I find is why England fans who think every new manager is somehow different when Capello is basically only mirroring exactly what Sven/McClown did, Heskey, Gerrard + Lampard, Calamity in goal, playing the latest in vogue wingers rather than the best and most consistant. England have played the same poor football for a decade now. It would take a miracle to beat Spain, Brazil really aren't as good as they normally are but still couldn't see us beating them.
