Heskey's shot on goal in the second half... the one right at Howard..

Darren Bent woulda BURIED that.

Bent or Heskey.. I know, especially on club form, who I woulda took..

yes Bent would have probably buried that but would Bent have set up Gerrards opening goal? I doubt it. Apart from playing off the last defenders shoulder Bent offers nothing

im no fan of Heskey but i cant believe people are still moaning about why he is still in the team why is it so hard to understand

3 england managers cant all have been crazy and his teams mates keep going on about how much they like playing with him

only wish he could finish :(

You're an absolute twit, I mean seriously, its because of the foreigners? No the reason England suck is ENGLISH PEOPLE who harang managers into picking who they think will win us games, which has failed, for decades.

We have great players, we have great wingers, we have great defenders, we have fantastic strikers, we have at least 3 very good keepers.

What we don't have is a keeper whose played in the first team role for England for 4-8 years. Dida for Brazil, Buffon for Italy, Barthez for France(when they were successful). No, we have Green, a perfectly good keeper(dida isn't fantastic by ANY stretch of the imagination) however he's probably playing due to a James injury........ ooo the confidence, what a great understanding he has playing with a solid and stable back 4. NO wait, no keeper has a good understanding with his defence, and our defence isn't stable because our managers choose whoevers in vogue that month and constantly put chronically injured people back in at a moments notice.

We have one of the top 3 most consistant wingers in the league in Ashley Young, for the past 4 years or so, not in the squad, and Lennon, SWP and WAlcott vying for places because ickle guys are in the papers a lot this year.

Foreigners in our league IMPROVES our players, better players around our players IMPROVES OUR PLAYERS, more worse English players would make our players worse.

Our problem is squad selection, constant changes, no practice and the fact that the team that lined up today has NEVER played a game together before, do you not think THATS the problem?

A twit how dare you, considering the England team has never been passed the semis since 96 which was the best England team I have ever seen, I was only 7 in 90 so did not compute, also then the teams were gash, Holland, Spain etc. compared to now, we are miles behind them yet they grace our league for fun. In any competition, I am england through and through but today I saw what has happened to the English game, the qualifiers, should and was a walk a in the park, now its down to the men and best of the best.

Can always rely on OCUK to bash Heskey. I thought he put in about the best performance of the night, creating chance after chance, including handing Gerrard his goal on a plate. Fluffing a great chance puts a damper on that; but he wasn't the only player to do so.

Crouch should have been subbed on earlier. 11 minutes before the end just doesn't give him time to make a difference.

There's no doubt Rooney is world class; but he didn't show it last night. Hopefully he can do better as the competition progresses.

Poor Green. But everyone makes mistakes on the pitch, including every keeper, you can't bin someone over one mistake. He should keep the gloves for now.

I have no idea why King and Milner were even on the pitch.

i was adamant we shouldnt take heskey. been there done that. not won anything with him near the team.

i felt justified when he took Rio out in training. even if heskey played a blinder, taking out the captain - not ideal when his replacement, deadly king cant survive more than 45 mins of football.

then heskey goes 1v1 and like we all knew, he wouldnt score it. my mates were out of their chairs willing him to put it away, i sat there cooler than the other side of the pillow, knowing it wasnt going in in a moth of sundays.

you cant play someone up front who cant score.

basing a game around hoisting it long to heskeys head is a no go.

lampard stoon on gerards toes all match is also no good.

when the center defenders have the ball, the idea would be for lampard or gerard to get the ball off them and distribute it, like scholes does for UTD - the defenders are in defence because they are better tacklers than passers - yet our dynamic midfield duo seem content to avoid taking any responsibility for playing a pass - prefering to stand in a horizontal line with each other, rather than one head of the other giving a route out with the ball to feet, not to someones head.

We played to our level which is around the last 16/quarters capable team.

Hope this has woke up some of the deluded fans we have in this country.

Having said that the usa are a semi decent side that make it hard for you to score.

Not the worst result in the world certainly a platform to build upon.

I wouldn't have taken carragher he was exposed last night as being too old and not fast enough, great player but his legs have gone.

We are nowhere near as good as some people think just look at the first half we could barely get or keep the ball and this is the usa not brazil.

When it comes to beating the bigger teams walcott was our only hope imo.

I would have taken walcott and left SWP at home and had joe cole on the left SWP for me has had more chances than walcott and is another who has no end product.
Same old patterns that I have been pointing out for a long time now, our defenders need to stop giving possession away cheaply by hitting those long balls from defence, no ledley king you are not david beckham.

Just play it around the defence PLAY OUT OF DEFENCE TO MIDFIELD DON't JUST HOOF A LONG BALL BACK TO THE OTHER TEAM

Just one thing, IF we're going to play high up the field, then it has to be crouch or defoe.

Heskeys great when the balls being dumped 40-50 yards from goal, but at the start of the 2nd half when we pressed them back... crouch and defoe will bury what heskey never will.

All being said though, lot better in the 2nd half when we decided to play the ball around a bit... the play WILL get sharper in the next few games.

It's in no way as DIRE as it was in 2006, we never had a decent game in germany, it was as deflating as euro 2000.

And ofcourse a big F(*&^ off to itv... one pub load of people extremly pee'd off last night.

And Props to the england band leading the charge trying to beat those cheap plastic horns, we could just about hear it enough to get a few songs going in the pub last night... hopefully the dutch can match the effort.

Been saying for weeks (on here too) it would end in a draw, and if anything scoring that early was the worst that could have happened as the whole team visibly relaxed too much

Corners and free kicks were all completely wasted, Rooney had to play too deeply to get the ball , the midfield was terrible (how many dreadful passes did Gerrard make straight to the other team, Lampard wasnt much better)

It was a Captain's goal and it was a really decent strike, but one moment of magic doesnt cancel out all the other errors he made after that. I really dont have a problem with him being Captain, its a good choice (and in the right area of the pitch imo)

Milner did ok but was deserving of the yellow (and probably had to come off before he got a red, which I think the way he was going would have happened within the 90) but SWP is plainly awful - yes he can run, but thats about it - his ball skills are non-existant

Cashley did ok, but what a criminal pass in the USA box straight to a defender

Heskey was never in a million years going to score ( didnt stop me wishing it wasnt the case as he pulled back his leg)

The USA are a decent side and I think deserved their goal - even if maybe not in the way it happened, and Im still not putting it past them to outscore us in the remaining two games, they had good movement up front and while he wasnt ever that great for Utd Howard is a really decent goalie so Im not sure they will concede that many (against these group teams)

God those horns are REALLY annoying, I was sick to death of them after about 20 minutes

When it comes to beating the bigger teams walcott was our only hope imo.

Deluded Arsenal fan by chance?

Just play it around the defence PLAY OUT OF DEFENCE TO MIDFIELD DON't JUST HOOF A LONG BALL BACK TO THE OTHER TEAM

The whole point of playing with a target man is that you hoof it onto his head, it is the traditional English way, not pretty but can be effective, especially with a lump like Heskey or a super freak like Crouch.

Did anyone else see Heskey take King out at one of our corners, I think he's got a bet on England not getting past the group stage... :D

Can i get some of those chelsea branded tinted glasses? they must make the world seem completely different.

You can have some if you like but I don't see what thats got to do with me.

Lampard and Gerrard get in each others way, Gerrard normally gets further forward which leaves Lampard to have to play deeper. Ever man and his dog has known this for years.

Lampard should get that role on form and gerrard should either be pushed out wide if we have no one better/play behind rooney or warm the bench in case Lampard gets injured.

Gerrard seems to have become an automatic choice purely because Terry disgraced him and rio got injured.

If they want to play Gerrard then bench lampard which based on form would be harsh tbh.

good news is - Barry and Joe Cole for next game.

The games against Slovenia, Algeria they have to try Gerrard in supporting role to Rooney. With Cole on the left and either lennon or milner on the right (SWP did nothing but fall over himself v USA)

England were disjointed. In parts of their attacking they are good but that is primarily due to the individual skill level of players imo.

The game vs USA looked like same old england tbh. Against better teams will be ripped apart.

Ohh and if King cant recover play dawson not the geriatric carragher.

It says a lot about the English game that in over 10 years we still rely on a striker who is like a deer in headlights when it comes to putting the ball past the keeper, if we're going to play Sven-era hoof ball to a target man again I would rather have Crouch on the pitch who is equally capable of skill in front of goal and scoring.
