Time for the likes of Gerrard, Lampard and Rooney and Terry to show that they are indeed world class like we are led to believe they are.

What will happen is we will pound this team and the next and everyone will get over inflated views of how much we have fixed the team. To then struggle against the next team that can hold the ball for more than 5 seconds.

I must admit a very small part of me 2% wouldn't mind seeing England draw today to see the FA go into a flat spin over extending Fabios contract just like they did svens before a major tournie after both made gestures about not knowing how long they would stay on.

The england players could then have a little cry to pretend they care before managing to get a sunshine holiday in with the wag before the start of the premiership season and have more time with the agent to sort out a move.

Tsch, what a load of claptrap danny. Anyone can see that we're clearly going to spawn an utterly unconvincing 1-0 or 2-0 (one own goal) win tonight, claim it's shown a "new dawn" to our play this tournament and that we'll go on to bigger and better things, before failing to do anything of note against Slovenia, where we'll scrape the bare minimum neccesary 0-0 drawn that will take us through, at which point Germany will utterly dismember us. If there's some way to both thrash us AND put us out on penalties, the Germans will find it.

Love it.

I'm not a huge fan of Beckham but the one thing that stands out about him is how much he loved playing for his country. The current lot..bleh.

You know we were discussing this at work the other day, Beckham. That basically all you really need to do for england is bust your balls for a game. You can be de-void of any real ability but as long as you try hard the fans will love you. (I'm not saying he had no ability at all)

Beckham has built his whole reputation off that game against greece, there have been plenty of games before and plenty after where he just looked like he couldn't be arsed. He started to show how much he liked and wanted to play for his country when his career was on the downward slope.

A few more of them wouldn't do their reputations any harm by putting in a bit of effort to show they actually do care about something other than whores and cars.

The problem with the england team is there sloppy play, i watched the game on saturday it's always the case where they score a goal in the first 5 minutes then get over confident thinking it will be a walk in the park.

the amount of times i counted when the gave away the ball, or hogged the ball. i.e. lampard. i always gringe when i see him take a free kick or try and take a shot when there are other players free, i find that some players are just glory hunters.

Looks like James is playing.. Why on earth!?

Hart has had the better season and David James is a prone to anyone to fumbling just about everything that comes near him. Add to that the fact that he will almost certainly get injured too I just don't get why Hart isn't given his chance.

I think that playing James is basically a get out of jail card for Fabio.

If he plays Green and Green makes a mistake - it will be Fabios fault for sticking by him (fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice...).

If he plays James and James has a bad game it will be James fault - James is a seasoned international and Fabio can't do much about the quality of goalkeepers at his disposal. If *two* different keepers mess up, you can't blame Fabio for that... probably.

If he plays Hart - Hart is untested and Fabio would get the rap for that if he had a bad game.

Nobody knows how they have been doing in training though. Mistake or no mistake if somebody is performing better in practice then they should get the place.

Personally I would have had Hart in from the start.

If england draw or even lose tonight, can they still get through to the final 16 only if they beat slovenia? Or if they don't win tonight, are they as good as out of the tournament?

If they draw then to save anyone further pain they should just go play hide and seek and not turn up for the last game. No team with 2 draws from playing the dream pick we got as a group should get any further.

We got possibly the easiest group there is anything other than 7 points is complete failure.

I find it amazing that going into a major comp the no1 keeper wasn't settled a year ago (with no injuries). What confidence can any of them have or the back 4 in the keeper when it seems to be a daily lottery.

You pick a keeper, you back him through a blip and you give him and the back 4 confidence.
