Because he's Sven MkII. A complete hypocrite that has found to be playing the same players and system as McClown and Sven.

He's gone back on every thing he said purely because he's found we have no talented players just mediocre also rans except the odd player or three.

We actually have a lot of talented players, the problem is they don't work well together and we've never had a manager who could make them gel. If a manager could really make the current england players gel together then we would be in with a real chance, the only way i think that'll happen though is with a GOOD english manager.

Harry redknapp would be a fantastic england manager, pitty it'll probably never happen.

Who are these fantastic players?

England, imo, have two "world class" players. C.Cole and Rooney.

World Class - means one of the two / three best players in that position in the World, special players.

The rest are decent, over rated though.

Cappello talks a good game, hasn't changed a thing and is making the same selection mistakes.

I had faith in Capello right up till the game the other night, now I just see him the same as others have said, i.e. no different from McClown and Sven.

Before the WC, I fancied Engand to maybe get to the semi's, while I still think we'll get out of the group I don't see us getting any further than that, sadly.

On ITV they interviewed lampard and they showed a quote from some dude that said Lampard was the best midfielder in Europe.

Yeah.

Yeah.

He the best midfielder we have and one of the best in the world. He's not fashionable though, even though his consistency is simply amazing.

The last 5 seasons he's scored over 20 goals and the two before that 19 and 15. Every season he's been at chelsea he's played over 50 games a season except two. One he played 40 the other 48. His top being 62 games in a season.

He's been the best bargain in the premiership by some margin, considering the goals and amount of games he's fit, the lowest being 40 in a season.

He doesn't get anywhere near enough credit.

Lampard doesn't and hasn't done it for England.

I think it's due to at Chelsea he has better players round him, also why Terry looks so good.

Neither does Rooney regulary shall we bin him as well?

Lampard has spent much of his england career having to play 2nd fiddle to Gerrard and never having gotten much of a chance to play with someone else to hold while he pushes on.

I'd have benched Gerrard and let Lampard get on with his own game. It's not like Gerrard has set international football alight either.

Why we are still going over this, god only knows. We knew all this 6 or 7 years ago. Yet the most consistent inform player of the last 7 years is still being dismissed. Theres no player in the england team who has consistently played so well.

Wayne Rooney has scored 136 goals over the last 6 years at manu, lampard has 127 over the last 6 years from ****ing midfield. I don't care who you play with you don't have a record like that just playing alongside other decent players, ask berbatoss ;)

Surely Gerrard is world class.

Lampard IMHO is massively overrated, he plays in such an easy role at Chelsea, just wandering about in midfield in front of a really strong back four and one or two more holding midfielders behind him. He's a good player yeah, but world class is a bit generous...

yeah being the top scoring midfielder for years consistently is such an easy job in the worlds toughest league.

Yeah makes you wonder why Scholes couldn't manage such consistency in such a supreme side when he was rated as one of the best in the world.

Feel free to find me these world class midfielders who have been as consistent over 7 years as Lampard. Nearly 20 goals per season every season. He is part of the reason the side is so strong. To say he's just benefitting from being in a strong side is laughable when you look at world class players that join sides and flop.

Perhaps the brazillian ronaldo was only so awesome because he played in such great sides. Of course not as neither is it the reason fat frank has been so consistent.

As I said it's not like Rooney has set the world alight at international level.

Whilst I respect your passionate defence of Lampard danny, he's crap at international level. Whether or not its because he's played second fiddle to someone else or not. He's crap. So are the rest. Not one of these over-payed buffoons playing in what is apparently the toughest league in the world, has been able to turn it on at international level.

I'm happy that England are at the world cup and so should others be, I'm not deluded that will win it though,
but at least we are taking part, from what I have seen, the rest of the games bar Germany have been crap,
most of them much worse than England so far.

That's because despite glamming it up (probably for cash) international football is pretty irrelevant these days. It's a downwards step for the quality of the champions league or probably even the domtestic leagues some of these players play in.

I imagine it's even harder for a messi who has turned up to be surrounded by poo when week in week out he's playing at a far higher level against higher level opponents.

I find it hard to get excited about a world cup these days, I look forward to the standard and matches in the champions league far far more than standard of matches in the world cup.

World Cup is the biggest competition in the World for football and sports in general.

I think it's a really good standard of football, it shows players up for what they are.
