Yeah because Messi is on fire isn't he lmao. Rooney scored a shed full of goals in a team with 1/5th of the quality of Barcelona. Unless of course you think Rooney is being carried by Nani,Fletcher, Berbatov, Park, Scoles and Carrick?

Swap those guys for the ones Messi has around him?

No I didn't think so.

Typical of people to look for a scapegoat when the whole team was crap and the service to the forwards was so dreadfull.

I have huge doubts Rooney was anywhere near fit enough, but he didn't get any service either.

People crying on about needing beckham, England fans have too short memories. I remember well enough a world cup where he was equally as poor.

He's been getting the service to 'poach' goals in and suddenly he's the best player in the world? What a joke, I don't recall him scoring goals outside the box let alone ripping teams apart like Messi has. And at least can create something out of nothing. Rooney cannot and has to rely on service.

LOL, Hes failed show up for the big games for manu too, hes crap and can only score agianst lower dpeths of the prem.

Rooney hasn't looked right since the injury he sustained in the Champions League, that and the fact he may well be burned out has had a negative effect on him.

So many people, you included, have no clue with regard to what you are talking about and will just harp on bashing whoever didn't score lots of goals.

Jeez.

You've been trolling non-stop through this thread. Give it up kiddo.

I am ashamed to be english after that dismal display and it's all down to our defenders refuse to support england again til the day I die.
Just been to the shop and amazed to see st george flags still up on peoples houses I felt like ripping them down and burning them.

Being nationalistic isn't a good thing anyhow ;) We're all the same whether we're German, English.... or even Welsh :p

This was just a game of football, where one side was better drilled/ more talented/ better managed (take your pick). The better team won, we congratulate the winners. The losers must try harder next time.

And there's still a lot of great football left to come from the likes of Brazil, Portugal, Argentina, etc.

England had their go, they did their best, let's move on.

No disrespect but I think Scotland would have at least shown more passion for playing for there country than those idiots (I'm English and support England)

EDIT: and Rooney, what did he do? nothing, its not about service when you're touted as "one of the best players in the world" its about displaying this fact with or without service, if you need service to be one of the world's best players than you're dreaming about your status, Ozil was on a different planet to Rooney and has been the entire world cup vs Rooney's last TWO world cups

Not going to single out any players because they were all poor but for a World Class manager I thought Capello stank. He didn't do a single thing to change the game when we were getting overrun in midfield in the first half and all three changes were like for like. He's looked out of his depth all tournament and I hope he ****s off.

Congratulations Germany. Played as a team and gave us a footballing lesson.

I'm not usually one for knocking managers, it's the players that ultimately have to perform on the pitch but you're spot on about Capello.

Made mistakes in (originally) picking 2 crocked CB's, continued to play a system that never looked like working throughout the tournement and picked Upson!

Yeah your right Rooney doesn't score outside the box or ever create anything. Jesus do you people even watch the premiership.

Bunch of xenophobic ****s ringing in to 606 now "Fabio aint proper english init, we need an English manager init"

People need to remember what happened last time they did this.

Cannot blame Rooney for all of this, seriously. It's just the whole team isn't as good as what people seem to think we are.

He was terrible over the world cup, then again - the whole team was.

Germany definitely should have scored a few more, and we were lucky it was only four.

I don't? Beckham was always the scapegoat with ten times the pressure and fault blamed on him and he didn't deserve half of it. Having said that I feel the same with Rooney; he was has been poor, poorer than Beckham's worst, but he cannot be blamed. Rooney will and does come good, he's a world class player when he's at the top of the game but it's how to get him to the top of his game that is the issue.

I feel sorry for Capello, I like the guy but I feel he will get a lot of the blame and perhaps rightly so. His lack of communication (poor english), his foreign couching team and his insistence on bringing the wrong players to the world cup and playing the right players out of position has hurt us.

With that said, nomatter the tactics or issues at hand these players should be playing at a much higher level than what we have just seen.

He looked so scared at the start of both matches. Got better against Slovenia but today he was AWOL, only his goal saved him a tongue lashing I reckon.

This ^

Team is full of old overpaid has beens that rely on top players in the Premier league to carry them off, they all need to go and get some fresh younger players in that actually want to play and have pride in a world cup rather than swim in a 30 million pound swimming pool and drive around in a Ferrari all summer, they were absolutely garbage and have been for the past 2 world cups under 2 different managers, they have to go

Doesn't matter which manager comes in they pick by names and reputation instead of form.

Agreed with above none of that squad should ever be allowed to don an england shirt ever again but of course that wont happen all about the sponsors and money

I can't wait for Scotland to be thrashed by a team like San Marino, I will be here waiting.

pahaha cmon man everybody knows scotland are bad. Everyone who lives in Scotland know that, clutching at straws just because some Scottish folks poked at England (or a lot:p)

The fact of the matter is, England had absolutely zero drive in this match and it was quite a shame to watch, not for a nation, just football in general.

I'm Scottish and wanted England to win this match and to see them play so awfully was quite embarassing actually. How they got through the group stages in the first place is beyond me... but now that England is out. CMON JAPAN!!! :D
