I don't even follow football but I knew from the start we'd never get to host it again, any time soon. It's nothing to do with being "butt hurt" or sour grapes.

I think they benefit from it more then we do.

I think we didn't have as much of a chance as Russia from the off, Quatar took me a little by surprise.
I wouldn't be too shocked to see China or India get it soon after. FIFA seem to be set on taking the World Cup to countries that need the boost and it will help develope football in that part of the World.
I don't know if its just me being biased but I felt we had one of the better if not the best bid presentation, and on top of that our technical report was rated as low risk. I honestly thought the race was between us and Spain. If the system is about who can host the best WC then fine, I accept the decision. If however it is about who can "move football forward" then I disagree, it is up to the footballing authorities within a country to move football forward and not a governing body. They cannot be seen to favour countries, especially (and I hate to reference this) given the anti English comments from high ranking members in the past.
Look at South Africa now. What a footballing legacy they've left there.
Edit: I would love to see a world cup before I'm 40 but that's unlikely to happen now. Yes I could go abroad but travel can be quite expensive and I'm not exactly on a huge income.

Nothing wrong with them getting it but it was always going to go to a country who never staged it before. So why let countrys who have hosted it even waste their time and millions?

I understand football and know pretty much everything about the game. Still I don't follow it.
Was it 15 mil we spent on the campaign? On top of that Fifa spent 3 mil on reports that only (if reports are to be believed) 3 committee members read. It just seems to be a giant waste of cash.

I completely agree about South Africa, I think it bought the country together and did a lot for it, but I can't see much of a long term effect. It was surely the start, the test run if you will. The World Cup shouldn't be about giving it to the big football nations, it should be about showing the World Cup to the rest of the World. It's the biggest football competition in the world.
I think Russia will be good. Could see China or India getting it for a similar reason.

They looked at all the nations and while they came to Russia, you could clearly see other nations getting votes?

15 million on a booklet for the World Cup?
15 mil wasted because FIFA wanted to give it to a new host. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about the amount spent, more the fact that us and the other bids have wasted money on something that was seemingly never going to happen.

I don't think FIFA decided where it was going before the campaigns started, I think Russia just become the favourites very quickly.
I remember yonks ago on the World Football Phone in they were talking up the Russian bid.
Really? Given Blatters views on giving it to new countries? You've said yourself you expect China, etc to get it soon. We had technically (on reports) superior bid to Russia. Are you saying their presentation was really that astounding?

No, but it's not some anti English thing that FIFA have going on, it's just an excuse that crops up every so often because churnaslists can't think or can't be critical.

Russia probably spent a lot of money on their bid, as did many other nations, does this mean that nobody should bid and FIFA should just decide?
Or alternativley because the comments are always made about English football first, and then foreign football second.

I'd like us to bid, and I would support a bid at the next world cup. I just think however that the voting policy within FIFA needs to be reviewed and I don't feel it picks hosts based on the best bids. What is the point in a presentation and all the inquiries if they are not going to be used?
