World first QD-OLED monitor from Dell and Samsung (34 inch Ultrawide 175hz)

Ordered 8:06am.
Confirmed 5:17pm.
Not moved into production or been shipped.
Estimated delivery 24th (today).

Just received a support update via email after ringing support yesterday afternoon blaming global parts shortage and that the revised estimated delivery is 31st March.

Honestly not sure what to believe, multiple different support contacts giving different answers.

Yeah, doesn't sound like they have a clue what's going on tbh, what a disaster!

I just got some generic message about the parts shortage twice. Like they sent me a shortage copy paste, I made a comment and then they replied with it again even though my comment wasn't even related to their manufacturing problems. Just feels like you're typing to a wall.

Theory - based on deliveries seen so far.

They've had damaged stock in the warehouse that nobody has noticed - i.e. Boxes with water damage etc that are unsellable.

They aren't going to let customers know that, hence the weird messaging and delays.

Yeah, this is my thought as well, they've been damaged in transit or storage and so they have less stock than they thought. Although surely if they just came out and told people that then it would be better than giving everyone the impression that they're incompetent?

That's a bit far fetched. Mine, besides the tearing on the side is in perfect condition. If there was such humidity in closed warehouse to damage other boxes, mine would have had signs as well.
Far more probable is the fact that their order system is bad, was showing stock while there wasnt any at the point where people were ordering.
There was far more demand than supply, simple as that.

These things come in containers on pallets.

People don't physically check them until they are 'picked' for delivery, at which point alarm bells might ring.

Not saying they have been damaged in a Dell warehouse this end, but somewhere between being packed in china (assuming 'made in China'), transported to the docks and then shipped to the UK, something has happened.

They seem to have some kinda stock management since it did change to April just before it came up saying out of stock yesterday, and now the dates all the way into July or August.

Which makes me think whoever put the product in the system initially put in far more stock than they had. Either as a mistake or they thought they were going to have a bigger initial batch than they actually did.

I ordered at 8:28 on the 22nd, confirmed at 8:38, order is still in "production" got in contact with the support, got fed BS about a component shortage. called on there BS eps as other have had there orders shipped after my order and its still in stock...

Ok so i have spoke to dell chat and this is what I was told
"I see that this Monitor was over sold and currently there is a shortage on the Monitors and we have a revised estimated ship date by 30th March"

I'm in the same boat so it's not horrendous if they're only going to push by a week. It's not ideal but realistically there are bigger problems in the world :)

I mean if it was just a week it wouldn't be too bad. Think there's a lot of worry because the US got told 2 months after the same thing happened to them. 2 months is kinda a long time.

I also got told 6-8 weeks by the rep on Wednesday. Seems he didn't toe the line though as he wasn't given any of the usual and straight up told me they messed up stock and awaiting new as have oversold current stock and need a new shipment. Tbh he seemed more truthful. I think the new dates given are just to slow orders down tbh. I will wait a month now and see where we are at end of April again. Still think I will hold off now and kinda and tempted between the Sony A95K 65" or LG C2 Evo 77" ha.

Just rang them for an update. Same pretty much as before. Stock/part shortage. New revised date in 24/48 hours. I said so I won’t get it in the next 48 hours then? told not likely. I did try to push and say it won’t be a month delay will it? Rep went quite and then said we don’t have any ETA so can’t say at all.

It would indeed look fantastic flat instead of curved. As the viewing angles don't really suffer with OLED.

That's not the only point of the curve, it's also there to try and bring the far ends in closer so the panel is a uniform distance from your eyes -- a flat panel the ends would be notably further from your eyes than the middle creating a distortion.

Thank you for contacting Dell Customer Care.

I understand that initial estimated shipped date was 23-03-2022, however unfortunately it has been delayed due to global part shortage that we are experiencing.

We are waiting for the parts from our suppliers, once it is received your order would be shipped according to the revised date which will be updated within the next 24-48 hours, I apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

I would like to offer 5% including vat as a goodwill for all the hassles, please write back to this email once the order is delivered to you so that I can initiate the refund for the said amount
