World first QD-OLED monitor from Dell and Samsung (34 inch Ultrawide 175hz)

Not noticed any issues either, I'm just using the cable I got from amazon a couple years back:

Are you guys bothering to install the monitor drivers? Something I never have done before.

Yeah, I am not too worried about it to be frank. By adjusting the price they literally confirmed it was a valid retail transaction. They advertise the bundled warranty on youtube as well as on product page.
Ombudsman would destroy them in case of any dispute.

Yup for sure! Just hope they don't give me any hassle for refund!

I use StartAllBack: https://www.startallback.com/

The specific settings:

Yeah it's set at fullscreen by default, probably because VRR in windows is flaky and out of the remit of nVidia since so many factors come into play in a desktop setting (individual apps etc).

Not seen this myself have to say, what GFX card have you got and has the driver been updated? I'm using nVidia Studio drivers for absolute stability as they undergo extended testing than Game Ready drivers that are shoved out the door to be on the brink of new game releases etc.

Oh, haven't really found a need to use start apps since w10 tbh but might do that just for it, mainly cause some less static items :p

Yeah I had read people experiencing problems before but it's weird how it didn't show with my adaptive sync monitor :/

PS.

If yous haven't already, give metro exodus enhanced a go  Sadly HDR is broke for that though but still looks great in sdr.

I did install the driver but it also installs some other Dell/Alienware stuff so uninstalled those from Apps screen in Windows 11. I only installed the driver so that Windows Device Manager can get the correct details for it rather than Generic P&P monitor. Uninstalling the apps retains the core driver in Windows though so this is fine.

Btw, Alien Isolation too :D

My monitor also had the dreaded marks that other people have had.

I'll just keep my 34GN850

Oof your marks are more pronounced than mine. I managed to get mine down a bit so they only really now exist on the top left corner and top edge of the panel and only visible under strong light like a torche. I have raised a ticket with Dell about this though either way and will see what they say. If they replace it when stock arrives, then fine but I will be checking the replacement first and not sending the old one back with the UPS guy at the same time beacuse I don't trust these packaging scenes in transit.

Defo going to check that out! Maybe even a replay tbh, only played through it once, not sure the heart can take it though :D

Had a look at mine there with a flashlight, can't see anything like that, had a few marks but they came of fine with the microfiber cloth.

I installed the driver, have latest Nvidia drivers, but it does feel to me like a cable issue. Ordered a new one and see it it helps. If it wont, I will wait with warranty claim until they get more stock.

I will try different port(its quite new card, 3090fe bought on release date), I have not had any issue with same refresh rate/resolution on Acer x35, but the old cable sometimes was not properly recognizing high refresh rate. Maybe AW is even more sensitive.
The bundled one is too short anyway so needed new one ;)

Looks like my order’s delivery date has taken a tumble once more. Order received on 22/3 at 8.09, now been given a 9th July delivery date! The cheek of Dell to have taken the payment in full for a product they now know they aren’t going to provide for 15 weeks is ridiculous…

Oof thats crazy...even worse than US.

After reading all these comments 42" LG C2 would be a much better option, LG have also added 21.9 and even 32.9 ultrawide support with option to adjust the screen position to your liking.

Glad i never made the jump on this but maybe in the next batch things will improve.

Do the OLED TVs have stuff like pixel refresh/panel refresh etc? I know they have some burn in countermeasures built in but they're designed for TV usage from what I could tell when looking before, whereas Dell's pixel/panel refresh are quite specific in their use case context as a monitor. Also standby power states and such. That would be my only concern really. A 42" C2 would otherwise be superb.

Actually I do recall there being an LG tool you can run on Windows that controls an LG WebOS TV and adds features like sending a standby signal. Bit of extra legwork but I suppose that is an option.

Also, do like 16:9/21:9 aspect switching on this, in the dark it just looks/feels proper. Bridgerton on Netflix is one example of not actual 16:9 content, there are some tiny letterboxes top and bottom on their production, so even on a 16:9 panel you won't get the full aspect, but on 21:9 you can just click the key to scale to fill the full width when you get letterboxing as part of the video frame itself.

But then you get TV shows that are done in proper 21:9, and they are so crisp in detail even at 1080p that it just looks so good on this. Picard for example this week was really enjoyable:

My only real annoyance is likely going to end up being the fan inside. As mentioned my PC is super quiet, so I can hear the fan. On a cold power up the fan is at its quietest but after 30 mins and everything warmed up, the fan reaches its nominal speed which is slightly more audible. Can't help but feel that a heatpipe style cooling solution like what tablets and phones have might have been a far better way to cool it passively than a tiny fan that pushes tiny amounts if air.

They do, for 42 inch LG actually decreased full refresh interval from 2000hrs to 500hrs.
It may mean 2 things:
1. Somehow LG technology is more prone to burn in in smaller size(pure speculation)
2. LG knows it will mainly be used as a monitor
The frequent full refresh cycle worries me a little combined with deuterium free old panel(which Vincent confirmed yesterday) - back in the day I was refreshing my ec930 very often(once a month) and after 3 years the panel became noticeably dimmer than out of the box.

RE the fan. I think it was Nvidias/Alterras choice. All GSync Ultimate monitors to date have this annoying little thing.

Looking at what's going on here il end up getting refunded i pressume or do they keep stock for replacements

I didn't even get to try a game/movie on it
I would have used or with the coating peel just to see of it would be worth keeping but it came on for say ten seconds.
Screen went black like gone in standby but blue signal light still on.
Restarted pc still black
Tried hdmi input the same.
Tried a laptop via dp it
It knew it was getting a signal as led white to blue but nothing on screen
Devastated isn't the word

It was smaller looking that I Invisioned on the desk I'd definitely go 38uw if they do one eventually.
Depending what happens with this.

Could be wrong, but my understanding is that one of the reasons the price is good is that 34 inch is a bit of an ideal size in terms of how many they can cut from a master panel, I wouldn't hold your breath for a 38 inch version

I've just checked my bank and I no longer have the payment pending (as in they haven't taken the payment), anyone else the same?

I’ve still got 2 pending payments, 1 for an order I cancelled. It’s normal for the pending payments to go and they will complete the payment when it ships.
