World first QD-OLED monitor from Dell and Samsung (34 inch Ultrawide 175hz)

Just received my money back from the bank for the order.. as I mentioned the pending order gets cancelled. Hope that doesn't mean my order will be cancelled.

FYI just make sure you have enough money in your account, as I use this bank account for drip feed / subscriptions so I've topped it up over the order amount 847 just in case.

Lol. Poor Nexus, might not even get his Amex money’s

Mine is working out under £800 without Amex or cashbacks so I am happy :D

Hahaha looking like it ffs!

I'm happy enough paying £847 even, heck would have been happy to pay the £1099 price but as always, if you can get something for cheaper, it would be rude not to take it! :D

Playing Alien isolation last night was floofing fantastic! Little to no banding at all in dark scenes.
The contrast is just something else, especially when you are in a dark scene and theres a tiny light just barely illuminating something. when you first meet the alien and it drops down, you just see the sheen on it's head. Really adds to the fear factor in that instance.

I remember playing it years ago and the banding was horrendous in dark areas. The 10bit on this panel and deep colour really make a difference.

Yeah. Looking forward to getting mine. Soon hopefully. Would be nice if they dispatch on 2nd April as it is showing right now.

Not as sure in person, this is my first OLED.

But from what i have heard, this screen looks warmer since it produces better yellows and reds.
Golds are very noticeable as gold on this screen.

Also this has better colour volume at higher brighness due to the lack of white sub pixel making up for the brighness.

The pending payment dropping back into your account is normal, and happens automatically (so not something initiated by Dell). Just means the merchant hasn't processed your payment within 5-8 days, and your bank won't keep the funds in limbo. I'm not 100% certain that this won't affect your order (because Dell), but I've pre-ordered stuff in the recent past where this happened and the transaction went through fine when the time came, even after a few months.

To be on the safe side I went into Amex and added Dell as a safe site thing that doesn't require the 2FA phone verification. Hopefully improves my chances of the order working if Dell have to charge the payment again.

New video addressing some of the concerns people have raised:

Still waiting for hdtvtest's follow up as well, but looks like a lot of the issues are being exaggerated somewhat (hardly surprising given that this is the internet :p)

Yeah, they are dramatically being blown out of proportion by envious elitists. Lot of cope. :p

Slight correction here, she said that because it is an ultrawide that it wouldn't be as suited for movies. This is incorrect because cinematic aspect ratio movies (the vast majority as very few actually are presented in 16:9) will fill the 21:9 ultra wide screen and give you that full cinematic experience. On streaming sites some will force you with letterboxes to create a letterboxed 16:9 movie frame, but you you can easily bypass that by using a browser extension like Ultrawideo which allows you to set a keyboard shortcut to flick between scaling ratios when watching such streams. However, it is 16:9 content (basically the vast majority of TV shows) where an ultrawide is not suited as well because you get a 16:9 frame with pillarboxes left and right. But because this is an OLED, it doesn't matter as they are pitch black anyway. So all in all, an ultrawide OLED is perfectly fine and well suited for movies and even TV shows really.

That's my X34a now gone to it's happy new owner. Moved my desk around last night and played some Guardians of the Galaxy on my FHD 25" screen and it's DISGOSTEN! :o

These next 5 weeks can't go quickly enough. Won't be too happy if mine gets delayed for a third time...

As of approx. 1PM 30th March, my order has moved from Confirmed to In Production.

Ship date (3rd April) and Delivery date (22nd April) remain the same.
