World first QD-OLED monitor from Dell and Samsung (34 inch Ultrawide 175hz)

I've had calibrated Kuro's, then oled's. Been to the multiple HDTVtest shootouts and follow display tech closely. The AW is easily the most impressive display I've owned. It's not close.

Yea, but Grim says it is no good…

He will be along shortly to post another article that points out anything negative

I've made an interesting observation, it seems the counting timer for Pixel Refresh (and Panel Refresh really I guess) is active even when the screen is powered off or in standby (whilst mains is still plugged in of course). I put it to the test last night as could swear I wasn't going mad.

1: Turned off the AW at around midnight to go to bed. Pressed the power button to turn it off. It did a Pixel Refresh.
2: Woke up just after 7am and came in to turn the monitor on. Soon as it woke up I turned it off again and watched as it did another Pixel Refresh.

So it seems as long as there's mains power going into the monitor, the timers are still active and roll through with the pixel refresh prompts every 4 hours when the screen goes to standby or the power button is pressed. I thought it was for every 4 hours of active use, as did everyone else I guess.

Too much faff to test out whether the same happens if I unplug the whole thing though and plug it in when I wake up :p

As an aside does anyone know if AW will release firmware updates for this for consumers to update (like LG etc)? Afaik they haven't done that for any of their models yet.

Only thing I'd like from a FW is opened up Calibration controls and better tuning of the fans. The monitor is ice cold anywhere you touch it after hours use please. Why do I need to hear this fan!?!?

I picked up an https://www.arctic.de/en/Z1-Gen-3/AEMNT00052A so here's short feedback on the monitor mount. The monitor stand was getting in the way and starting to eat up a lot of desk space and generally limited room to keep things tidy. As with any arctic product I've come across, the build quality is top notch. You can tell there won't be any component fatigue over time. Similar to my freezer ii 360 aio which is over 3years old now and performs exactly the same as day 1. The tilt adjust needed a lot of force so was a bit worried something might give but ultimately it was fine. The USB hub is great to have. The "pro" model has usb 3.0 but since I'll only use this for kb/m/controller, i rather save 30+ and USB 2.0 is more than enough.

That looks great!

I have noticed a new Windows optional update for this monitor, no idea what the change log is but will install shortly.

For ref, I do not have any Dell r Alienware software installed, so this must be a monitor driver.

Edit*
installed but notice the version in Device Manager for the driver has remained unchanged:

So no idea what that Windows Update was all about...

Thanks, i won't bother installing it until I find out more as I am happy with the way it is right now.

Yeah, I would say the last batch they had were assigned and the ones left over will be in the next lot (hopefully not long after yr 5th May date (mine was 5th May but got it 21st April)

I get the feeling China having mass lockdowns may have effected delivery considering apparently all the US orders that were meant to ship out in April got delayed again.

That said they bizarrely didn't get any shipments out before even though EU got some, so maybe there is still hope for everyone still waiting.

Guys, if you are using Chrome / Edge, then install this extension, makes the font rendering MUCH better in my opinion. There is one that is a similar name that omits the word "Chrome" at the beginning, but it isnt a patch on this one. Check it out:
