World first QD-OLED monitor from Dell and Samsung (34 inch Ultrawide 175hz)

Just about to click buy on one of these for £710, is there anything realistically on the horizon that's worth waiting for that will cost a similar amount?

Clicked buy @ £710 with the Alienware Arena discount last night!

Will be my first OLED and first proper premium monitor i've ever purchased, feeling a little bit of guilt spending so much on a monitor today and really hoping I won't be disappointed :o

Only concerns are the 100hz 10 bit thing and the fact I’ll be moving from a gsync ultimate monitor and while gsync works on the DWF, I don’t know if it will be noticeable.
I moved from a 38" G-Sync ultimate ultrawide and i could not tell a difference myself, but what i did notice was how good OLED was in motion and the contrast just blows LCD away.

Here is hoping they can make a 38" QD-OLED with a higher resolution and maybe 240hz in the future.

Is there a how-to post in this thread on how to do this? Or will it be obvious once my monitor arrives? :)
Here is how to do it:

  1. Create a new "custom resolution" using CRU/NVIDIA/AMD (see other guides if you don't know how to do this).
  2. Make sure the resolution is 3440x1440, and set the refresh rate to 165Hz.
  3. Set the timing configuration to "Manual".
  4. Put the following values in "Total Pixels": Horizontal: 3520, Vertical: 1475.
  5. The final "Pixel Clock" shown should come out to 856.68 MHz. Make sure that's the value you are seeing.
  6. Save the new resolution and enable it. The monitor should work. You should see 10-bit in the driver GUI and in Windows Settings.

Given tftcentral, hdtvtest, pcmonitors.info have all stated they couldn't see the difference (including hdr) between 8 bit and frc and 10 bit, I wouldn't worry about that. I personally run my DW at 175hz 8 bit and frc as the extra responsiveness and improved motion clarity is noticeable over 144hz (if you can get your games to hit that refresh rate anyway)

Amazing, thinks for the guide!

Why 3520x1475 - Just curious

You don't see the difference in colour banding in the sky for example?

Personally can't say I have and if Vincent says there is no difference, I trust him :p

It's 8 bit + frc so not just 8 bit.

I stall can’t help myself and have it on 10 but 144hz because the games I mostly play never even hit that high and if I ever do play something that does like CS GO on the rare ocassion I set it to 8bit 175hz.

Thatbis why I am not so excited about the upcoming 240hz ones. I just want 4K version:D
