World first QD-OLED monitor from Dell and Samsung (34 inch Ultrawide 175hz)

I tried to get the DW initially but got there too late as it got discontinued so ended up getting the Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 4K with 1200 Mini LED backlight array monitor which is beautiful, Luckily got 1 without issues.

I can't bring myself to get the DWF, I know it's the same panel as the DW but I wanted that sweet G-Sync module :D
Funny enough I've got a Neo G7 on order since I couldn't decide between it or DWF so figured I'd try both

I calibrated mine and it definitely made a difference in the before and after image.

I can’t remember the exact figures I choose but the only slider I had completely to one side was the color saturation as I left it at default 0.

I've run it again and it's the same, I need to drag the minimum luminance all the way to zero to make the bars disappear. I also can't move the line on the pictures to see the difference so I just left it in the middle.

I think something's messed up somewhere.

I'm now almost a year into ownership of the DWF, purchased Dec 22 on UK launch. No issues whatsoever and now running the latest firmware. I also ran the HDR calibration tool in Windows (in a dark room at night) and it's made a noticeable difference, I use the Peak 1000 mode when gaming. The HDR in MS Flight Simulator looks stunning! I have also used the monitor for work at times and have no burn in at all. Beyond using dark mode and setting solid black as my wallpaper, I've made no other adjustments to typical use. Absolutely amazing display. I make sure the monitor goes to sleep after a couple of mins of inactivity and always leave it on standby so it can preform the pixel refresh when needed. I also make sure I refresh it when prompted (after 4hrs cumulative use).

Not a fan of the curve or other reasons?
Curve wasn't too much a issue, don't get me wrong I think it looks stupid with such a curve but I could learn to live with it, it was mainly the vrr flicker and actual VA panel I couldn't live with, I've noticed a little flicker with DWF but it was perfect in comparison to the whole screen flickering on G7, and after years of using a oled panel with my LG CX the VA panel on it just looked really bad with the ghosting and smearing (or that's what it looked like to me at least)

So now I've come to predicament of do I keep DWF at least until late next year and maybe then get a 32" 4K or a bigger ultrawide, or do I get a C3 42", problem is I do dislike WOLED in comparison to this QD OLED and looking on Rtings the 42" C3 won't really be any brighter then my CX in HDR but will be dimmer in SDR, sorry for bit of rant

That's really useful info because I've been using the CX and weighed up the DWF and G7. Thought the G7 would have been more suitable as I spend a long time on the desktop. If there are issues I might just use the CX for gaming and a laptop for other tasks until new monitors are released.

To be fair the mini led with dimming zone aspect of it was great, maybe if there was a IPS mini led monitor that might actually be perfect, maybe I should have a look online..

I got lucky with my G8 which is only slightly different to your G7, No flickering or issues of any kind to date but that's the thing with these panels sadly, It very much is a lottery.

John at DF mentions LG panels fairing better for image retention vs QD-OLED on current models, I tink I'm inclined to agree.

If in roughly one years time when my Alienware QD-OLED had 6 month's warranty left the new monitors rumoured to be coming out are not available, I may just sell what I have and go for a 42" LG OLED.

DO they offer some burn in warranty now? Not sure if I remember something like 2!years or something? But basically I am not concerned about burn in anymore so happy to take the chance.

120Hz would be plenty for my needs anyway. But if the new stuff come out and aren't priced stupid then I will get the 32" 4K one that is 240hz I think. Or maybe the 5160x2160 one. Any of those would do me just fine. Just needs to be higher res :D

1 of the reasons I went with the G8 Neo over getting the OLED ultrawides is the vertical size is squished down, If it was 3840x1600 I would've gotten it.

Next upgrade for me will likely be in 2 years time when 32" 4K 240Hz OLED's become a bit more common with improved burn in protection.

Must admit I'm somewhat regretting my AW3423DW purchase when I have it down at 15-20% brightness for 95% of the time I use it.. and £3-400 gets relatively decent monitors these days!
