World first QD-OLED monitor from Dell and Samsung (34 inch Ultrawide 175hz)

I wonder what they'll do for replacements 3 years after these are discontinued.

It seems that even with minor burn-in, they don't even ask questions and just replace them, so it seems a no brainer to use it towards the end of the warranty.

At that stage I'm expecting they'll just give out new monitors of a different model. OLED isn't going anywhere so they'll still be selling an OLED monitor in 3 years it might just be a different model and if you have a DW you may lose gsync ultimate

So out of sheer will power, I whatsapped Dell and now have a new QD-OLED on the way. No ideas if it's another DW or a DWF, I suspect DWF because the DW is end of line.

Took about 10 mins and a few photos all through whatsapp.

This is why I will stick with Dell/Alienware.
Got my replacement last weekend, was a DW rather than DWF

I tried to set my monitor up properly. I enabled HDR 1000, turned on auto hdr and hdr on in Windows 10. (I have latest firmware).

In cyberpunk I enabled hdr10 pq (I think) but the screen is looking very washed out. Am I being an idiot here or is non HDR better for this game?

Have you used Windows HDR Calibration tool to create and apply a HDR specific profile that tells Windows what the monitor is capable of in HDR mode? Also make sure no other colour profiles are activated or visible in Windows Colour options screen for the display.

SHould look something like this (though ignore my 10 bits colour 144Hz bits)

Windows 10's HDR isn't really great anyway though too so keep that in mind. Neither is 11's but it's better.

HDR works just fine for me on my DWF in Cyberpunk.

I'm on Windows 11 though, I've heard there are some HDR problems with Windows 10.

Sorry I'm an idiot I'm on windows 11.

Yep I followed a YouTube guide went through HDR calibration app and saved profile down and loaded it in colour management.

Would you mind sharing your monitor settings maybe I'm being dumb with something else?

I also used per YouTube guide the dell display monitor app and set manual profile and used cyberpunk there.

Was meant to be going out tonight but my liver and mind could do with a break. Be awesome to get stuck into the game finally.

Here are the OSD settings, keep in mind that in HDR mode you can't really change much as HDR controls the output, you can change contrast and game mode but it's not worth changing those. Also I use HDR Peak 1000 to maximise the HDR range capability.

Cyberpunk hdr isn't as great as it could be. The highlights are there but blacks are raised compared to sdr. I also find the highlights are out of sync with the setting. I have to set 790 luminance in the game setting to achieve 1000 in game.

I found reducing the mid tone setting to around 1.2 reduced the washed out look when compared to sdr but blacks are still clearly raised..

I can confirm that Dell support is just incredible. My screen flickers for a split second every few minutes(I have had it since launch, but did not notice it earlier). Sent support ticket on Thursday, Friday evening got notice that replacement is shipped. I just hope not to get some dirty refurb(mine is spotless otherwise) - actually would prefer to get dfw, fingers crossed.

Would be good if Dell started making 49" qd-oled, gen2 panels are slightly better

Still no burn in on mine (that I can see anyway, photo is more grainy, in real life, it looks pretty smooth), owned same length as mrk and probably similar usage.

DW for life! :p

Be interesting to see if you do get a dwf and if you notice the increased issues with vrr flickering mrk.

Wait, so flickering is worse on dwf? Its already quite bad on dw...(WAY worse than on Acer X35 for example)

According to pcmonitors.info, yup:
PCMonitors.info @PCM2 still values the gsync module over freesync for things like this:

I still have an affinity to the ‘DW’ due to the other benefits I mentioned on the first page of this thread – related to the G-SYNC module (lower VRR flickering, seamless operation throughout VRR range and less ‘micro stuttering’).

Would be funny if mrk ends up with the Freesync version

I predict the following. First he will be happy as he can now update the firmware. He will do his usual tests and convince himself all is good. Then one-day he will realise it was a mistake when he notices the consistent additional flicker etc and contact Dell to say hey, I only just realised you guys sent me a freesync version, I paid for gysnc bro!

And so his 5th panel will be swiftly dispatched :D

Vrr flicker is dependant on the PC config. If you can hold a steady framerate without large fps fluctuations, you'll report the monitor has little to no vrr flicker. Some with a different set up that struggles to keep steady frames will report the opposite. This is why its most obvious during load screens, were fps really bounce around.

I would really like to see the difference between the DW and DWF with vrr flicker. When the early adopters were reporting VRR flicker didn't exist on the DW as the gsync module fixed it (i even gave advice of a test which would reveal the issue in seconds), I bought one and was really disappointed to quickly find it did (I already owned OLED screens for years and vrr flicker was my only disappointment) . However, it does seem to be less than my LG (just not sure if that's due to 4k being harder on framerate fluctuations). Would like an apple to apple comparison as I do suspect it is reducing the affect.

I've never had to get a replacement monitor/pc part ever before I think

When exactly will Dell collect the one I have had issue with? They delivered the replacement last Friday and I've heard nothing
