World of Warcraft: Classic

Usually I don't think the imbalance is an issue, but a war has been sparked recently over world buffs. Apparently there will be a huge alliance presence in BRM tonight to try and kill raiding horde, of which I'll be one. Personally idgaf about world buffs (not really needed as healer) but my guild semi demands it, so I don't mind dying heroically. Should be fun!

I think it's time for me to chuck it in. I've got a 60 priest which I've healed a ton on, cleared everything except BWL, a warrior tank which recently dinged 60 and I just can't be arsed to raid with. I just don't have the energy to learn all the mechanics.

I'm just bored of it now, haven't logged on in days, it was fun while it lasted but I'm a very different person to 15 years ago. Time to move on.

tbf it's also not the same game as it was back then.

I've heard via reddit that botting is out of control in classic too.

It's absolutely rampant with it. There are a few bots I've been tracking for months, always online 24/7, always in Stratholme. Every moment of every day. I think I first reported them about 10 weeks ago, still there, day in, day out. It's only a matter of time until the only people playing the game are bots.

Ahh the Chinese gold farmers need something to do while the rest of the world is suffering :p

It was no different back in the day. There was always this female dwarf hunter who was stealing my arcane crystals and was on 24/7.

I remember attempting to play the original WoW as a fury warrior - boy did I get some aggro!

The Burning Crusade is where the game peaked for me. The grind was sometimes unbearable with poor drop chance and luck but the professions with specialisms were great. Could craft end game gear for yourself and make a fortune selling BOP Primal Nether crafted items. It was fun :)

I’m not sure the original wow mechanics stand up to what people are looking for now. Tanking as a warrior for example was an unenjoyable thankless task. The game was poorly itemised, questing was a nightmare unless you had the right spec. Don’t think I’ll be dipping back in!

But that is why I and people keep coming back - it is hard it's meant to be. And it's why I don't want TBC.

it is hard

Objectively disagree. Tanking isn't fun, mechanics are boring, balance is whack. In 2005 these weren't such an issue because it was new, we were all learning and exploring, figuring out new things. Today players know everything there is to know and understand.

It's like replaying Final Fantasy 7. It's not as big and amazing as you remember back in 1997.

I still remember my first night of playing WOw and drinking beer at uni. It was literally a week after WOW came out.

it was amazing. Best memories

I remember finishing the starting area in Durotar, then seeing the whole area of Durotar on my map and being surprised just how big it was. This followed by my mate telling me to expand the map again.. then again. My mind was blown, I thought it was the biggest world ever :D

First night? I had friends coming to my house after not going to college all week wondering about my well being. It ended with all of them going back home and buying wow!

lol yeh - it was one of the rarer nights when I wasn’t in a bar drinking myself into a stupor. I got a Chinese take away (chicken chow mein, egg fried rice and sweet and sour chicken balls). Also got 8 cans of lager and 10 Marlborough lights (I haven’t smoked for years by the way).
Sat down to my 10meg connection or whatever it was at the time having bought the game on CD in town earlier.

I rolled a retribution paladin and still have him to this day. Never really raided - just enjoyed myself.

the opening music in Elwyn and sheer expanse of exploration blew my socks off. Didn’t go to bed until like 4am. god it was amazing

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Nice man, looks like my rogue back in 2005. I'm pretty jealous as I joined a guild back in January as a raider so no chance of getting bindings this time round given that our tanks don't even have it yet.

Really good video explaining how good Thunderfury is by the way and which weapons to pair it with etc.
